Not gonna overreact. We came out like a team that hadn't played a D1 game in over 3 weeks. If they show up Saturday and dominate Detroit, well a 3-1 start to the HL season is really as good as we could have asked for. But not playing a game for that long really killed every single bit of positive momentum that we had. I like that you can find something positive to say after this game. 3-1 wouldn’t be bad. All I want is for us to be a respected horizon league team and I feel like that’s a relatable feeling for all of us. Tonight just felt like we took a huge step back in achieving that goal. One team was hungry the other team was not

The Panthers are looking like an 8th or 9th place team in the conference right now, which is right where they were last year. They haven’t played a good game since the Cream City Classic (btw, it looks like neither SEMO nor UC-Davis have won a D1 game since that tournament). The talk about Bart Lundy being able to turn the team around in one year is sounding VERY premature right now. Yeah, the team is 2-1 in the conference so far, but the two teams they beat don’t really look like D1 teams and the 1 they lost to was a 20 point loss against a team that (so far) looks like they’ll finish in the lower half of the conference.
I know it’s human nature to look at a game like this and blame it on the 2 week layoff. Yeah, that has something to do with it, but that’s not the whole story. It’s human nature to look at the North Park game and justify the poor first half by saying we played a good second half. But it was also human nature to watch PBS’ teams stay within single digits of D3 teams and justify it by saying “they were working on some things”.
At some point, excuses have to go out the window. Put up or shut up. I’m sick of losing. Maybe Lundy will get us out of this rut, and I certainly think he will be better than PBS, but that is such a pathetically low bar. This team is simply not that good right now. They could get better as the year goes on, but that isn’t the trend. Rather, the team has gotten worse since November.

Bart Lundy always does post-game radio right after the game. He was super late. Very pissed off he was!

Win or lose tonight, we need to take a long, hard look at how we assemble a schedule. Agreed. I don’t care if we can’t get a home/away with a good program. It can be mostly road games for cash. We need a non-conference schedule that prepares us to win the Horizon. Getting your ass handed to you on the road for money is not how to build a schedule at ll. About the exact opposite of how to build a team

I'm hoping they'll post the press conference on YouTube but they sometimes don't for away games His tone was different. Voice was weak. Coach said, I need to find 5 guys that will guard. We didn't get stops in the 2nd half. Oakland knew they could take us off the dribble. This was the easiest of our 5 road games in a row. If we don't guard in 36 hours, Davis will put 50 points on us.

Getting your ass handed to you on the road for money is not how to build a schedule at ll. About the exact opposite of how to build a team Butler was able to get Matt Howard, Shelvin Mack and Gordon Hayward (All top-75 recruits in high school) in part because they scheduled tough games out of conference. But they weren't scheduling beyond their means. They didn't take buy games from teams they couldn't beat, and by the time they could beat anybody those schools weren't interested in buy games with someone who could come in their house and kick the crap out of them. It's incredibly difficult to build a schedule as a good mid-major (and we haven't been that level for six years, and 17 since we were an ELITE mid-major). Petes is absolutely right. One thing that AB did late in Jeter's tenure was require them to take a bunch of buy games. That's how we got the APR ban year's schedule. Five high-majors, IIRC all on their home courts.
