It's been over a week since PBS was canned. Who do you want as our next coach? (I believe that the timeframe given was two weeks).

Of the options given:
Plan A - Ben McCollum
Plan B - Bruce Weber
Plan C - Jason Shay / Ben Howlett
I would be ecstatic with plan A and content with plan B or C. Five years ago, I would not have been content with Bruce Weber as our coach. Today, I could easily be talked into it. He would provide instant credibility to the rudderless ship that has been this program. I imagine he would be respected enough to be able to bend Mone's ear when there was any BS going on within the AD.

Given that a search firm was hired and that the season doesn't end (for Division II coaches) for another 2-1/2 weeks, I would expect that we won't hear anything until the end of March at the earliest. |

I voted for Darner, because that's who I've been campaigning for. I'm more than happy with McCollum. Bruce Weber would be a hard sell on me. I don't care that he went to school here, and let's be honest, he's never shown that he cares that he went here either.

McCollum seems he'd be a fantastic hire, though we may be in competition for his services. Still wouldn't complain if we won that one.
Weber's intriguing. He started in mid-majorville, has spent a good amount of time at the high majors, is sick of the "cheating schools" at the higher majors, may just be willing to stick it out in the mid major level because of his distaste of what happens in P5 schools. I'm just guessing he knows enough about the train wreck that is the AD's office and would steer clear.
I think both of those hires would be good hires to get the program moving in the right direction.

Voted for Ben since it seems Lamont Paris is out of reach. Even if Lamont was in reach, Ben McCollom just seems like an obvious choice for all parties involved at this point.

McCollum far and away top choice. I'd go Bruce, Lundy, Shay in that order for backup options.

I would hope we don't rush the hiring process. Neither rushing or prolonging the hiring process is desired. There is a delicate balance between the two extremes to help get the best possible candidate. |

I would hope we don't rush the hiring process. I have always thought a "few" means about five. That would be about 27 more days. I just looked at the definition and that is not necessarily the case. It is certainly more than one, but how many more is not specifically identified. AB was smart (or just lucky) to be vague enough to say "a few" and avoid backing herself into a corner. Maybe we should have a poll to see what a "few" means to everyone on here.😉 |
