Bruce Weber makes the most sense. He comes back to his alma mater, is from Milwaukee originally, and can give instant credibility to the program. If Bruce is hired, talk about something falling into your lap....The recruiting firm hired by the AD will make "easy money" with this engagement.

Think about what a feel good story this would be. The media would be all over it. Everyone would be rooting for him. Weber comes home to UWM etc...I also think it would engender much good will and not sure this is possible but diminish much of the rancor towards AB. I think a lot of people would love her for doing this

Crazy that Bruce Weber wasn't a name on this board 48 hours ago. He will not be slumming over here as a long time coach at Illinois and Kansas State. Why deal with us at the age of 65.

Pounce, I know...this is the biggest factor in the way of this becoming a reality. You would think he would have higher D 1 offers but if not then, why not us?

Know how many high major football schools over the years made their football head coach the AD as well?
Somebody tell me it wouldn't be a BRILLIANT move to hire Bruce Weber as hoops head coach AND athletic director, with the idea that he'd take 2-3 years to raise the basketball program from the dead again and then hire a permanent replacement, but stay on as AD to bring UWM to a much higher status. Can you imagine how the whole community would rally around the program?
I can dream, right?

Fran beat me to the point I wanted to make.
Hire Bruce Weber as AD. Maybe he coaches too, but I think he would be a better front man to turn the ENTIRE Athletics Program around. Big name, hometown.
Linc Darner would be cool for the style of play, but dont think Amanda would hire him. Just a gut feeling.
Ben McCollum would be provide D2 winner. Does it translate...it should, and it would be a winning coach brought in.

It seems that everyone on this board cares more about where he went to college than he does. I've NEVER heard him mention it, EVEN WHEN WE WERE PLAYING HIS TEAM IN THE SWEET FREAKING 16! So, forgive me if I don't give a damn about Bruce Weber. Bruce Weber doesn't give a damn about UWM. Prove me wrong. |

Have you not read the headlines that state he's not cutting his hair until teams stop cheating? He's upset at what major schools get away with at the highest level. He wouldn't have to deal with that to nearly the same degree at the mid-major level. I think if he were to coach anywhere, it WOULD be a smaller profile school given his current apparent distaste with high major basketball corruption. |

Gotta admit that gave me pause. Is he getting weird? At least it is not his fingernails. Specifically though he said it related to those schools under the FBI investigation not cheaitng in general. If he sticks to this he is going to look like Howard Hughes or the unibomber.
