I agree but even if he had the success of Bobby Knight would not want that, from Knight or him either..there were players who defended KNight too...where there is smoke there is fire...bigger thing would be if any Cinci players defended him as he may have been different .....I think we should stay clear....lots of other candidates

The more I think about this.....not to go off on tangent but is there something nefarious we do not know that would explain why GB jettisoned him with six years on his contract in favor of WILL freakin Ryan??? Know money is tight up there but the buy out? just does not add up.....will say also his style of play you would think would help recruiting....

They could structure his deal in such a way that, if they gave him the 5 yr/$350k per contract that Lavall and PBS got, the first 2 yrs Green Bay would be paying $235K of it. That would offset PBS's buyout year. Then we would pay the full salary after his GB contract expires.
Wouldn't that add some "juice" to the rivalry! The Satin Jacket Society would be all fired up.
Plus, the distinct style of play would give us cache with the casual fan.

Green Bay is far too small of a town to keep anything "nefarious" quiet for this long. Nothing has ever been reported in GB media. Personally, I think it was either finances, or they simply "Jetered" him out of town. Needless to say, in 2 short years, their program torpedo has sped past ours into the abyss.

I think a lot of people in GB were unhappy about Darner going the JUCO route a lot. I remember people on message boards and newspaper comments about the need to recruit more area players and having then on the team for four years. Darner was kind of a drastic change of philosophy from their golden boy Bennett and his successors.

That would explain why Will Ryan's roster looks like the Fox Valley High School All Stars.

Darner’s buyout payments end next April & tbd if there’s any offsetting language. www.nbc26.com/sports/uw-green-bay-to-pay-ex-coach-darner-at-least-720-000-over-next-three-years?_amp=trueHe’s not my first choice but I’d certainly contact him after I received a cease and desist letter from BMC’s attorneys. Chris Mack is an interesting choice. His personality can potentially rub people the wrong way but as The Athletic pointed out, he wilted when he was at a program that’s top dog in town. That wasn’t the case at Xavier and ABSOLUTELY wouldn’t be the case here. Realistically, he’s too big of a name for MKE but he’s worth a call.

It looks like the offset salary idea wouldn't work as hoped according to this story, but that's okay.

Pounce, culture is more like stuck in the 60s with Coach Lombardi and the Packer sweep...
BTW - Coach oops...former coach Baldwin is on 1250 am between 6 and 8 tonight. If anyone can listen, I have a conflict would be interesting to post what he had to say if anything beyond pablum
