Well, it looks like Bruce Weber still wants to coach..... "Weber, 65, professed his desire to continue coaching, asking for "some [athletic director] out there who would appreciate a coach that graduates players, wins championships, supports the university and embraces the community." I'd take Weber if Ben McCollum turned it down. BRING BRUCE HOME! |

Pardon me while I digress slightly from the thread topic for this one comment... It looks like McCollum's team gets great fan support. The games today and tomorrow (because they won today) are in Sioux Falls at Sanford Pentagon, which is 290 miles away from campus. This is nearly the same mileage Indianapolis' Farmers Coliseum is from UWM's campus (281 miles). We can only hope to get that kind of attendance for an HL semifinal or final tournament game again. We need a good coach to get us to Indy, but would our fans show up??? |

Keep in mind about any fans showing up in any tournament. The HL in Indy on a Monday & Tuesday. Today your watching on a Saturday.
Remember the year Jeter and Panthers lost at the Arena to Butler for the HL title. Butler had 50% less fans on that Tuesday than the semi's on Saturday.

I went to Detroit once, mainly because I wanted to see the new Red Wings arena. Having the HLT there was stupid.
The Indianapolis-based HLT is just as stupid.
The fact of the matter is, the HL created a huge self-inflicted wound when it went away from a fabulous tournament format to the garbage they've had since. I'd be embarassed watching the HLT on TV if I were LeCrone, but he is a tone deaf idiot, after all.
If they want asses in the seats, put the games back where the asses are.

I really think that some of this stuff is nuts, guys. Wade. Martin. We've gotten way off track here. Let's focus on the D-2 guys (and maybe Weber as our new AD)!

I would go down the line on the D-2 guys first and then see if Weber wants it. No need to divert from what has worked for us. I'm intrigued by Weber as the new AD.
