Ask CSU Vikings fans how Rollie Massimino turned out. We need some youthful energy and drive who knows no limits. I think if Martelli wanted to be a head coach, he'd still be at St. Joe's. I think he was let go at St. Joe's

I'd love to see Martelli's first two days of interactions with our AD ... which would be his LAST two days of interactions with our AD. he was a great recruiter and fund raiser, but later in life the game passed him buy. He was a good person though

Pass. It also appears as if Billy Donlon, with a $350,000 a year base salary on a deal that runs through March 2025 with a steep buyout, is beyond our means. why his firing was bs and he won 21 games

FYI, Larry Brown is making $300,000 plus incentives as the bench coach at Memphis. I think that it's just as likely that he is our next coach as Martelli. Honestly, let's focus on guys like McCollum, Darner and Claunch (and at least make the call to Prohm's representives). That's a great pool of head-coaching candidates.

Any interest in Jared Grasso head at Bryant out East. Speaking of Martelli, former St Joe’s Coach, his son is Grasso’s top assistant. There seems like many good young coaches out there as well as some seasoned coaches. Would prefer someone with a history, one with ups and downs. They could be very happy in Milwaukee and stick around a bit longer. Brannen or Prohm would be great. Baanen’s teams at NKU used to make me jealous and wondering why UWM couldn’t attract such a coach. His teams played hard on both ends of the court. They were disciplined, quick, and strong. Prohm knows how to win. Brannen, Prohm, Shays are top of my list. Really enjoying everyone’s thoughts. There is a ton of interest to make things right.

He's had three straight solid years at the D-1 level (if not for COVID, it would be three straight 20-win years), he makes only $130,000 per year (so we can afford him) and at age 32 there's a chance that he's so hungry to move up the ladder that he will overlook the flashing red lights about our program (cratered attendance, lack of institutional support, etc.). He would be pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum from a guy like Martelli. Figure on a candidate like him to be at Milwaukee for at most three or four years.

Thankfully not. Though if Chad Boudreau was brought up, I'm sure there would be some doing the same as the Shay people are. If you knew the hilarious story behind Boudreau's exit from the university months after Jeter, you'd know there's no way he'd be a candidate. I also talk to him occasionally, he'd absolutely have brought it up the other day if he were considering pursuit of our job.

Because he's young enough that he can relate directly to players, and in four years he has absolutely built a program from a tie for last place in his first year to 1st place last year and he's about to win another regular season title. Also he's head coach at Nicholls State, so we should be able to afford him. My concern is he has no coaching or playing history in the Midwest. You would need to match him with strong assistants who are known to be top recruiters in the upper Midwest. Normally I wouldn't find this to be an issue, but he's 32. Has he rubbed enough elbows at the Final Four and AAU circuit to be able to draw in top recruiters to the coaching staff? I'm not sure. I wouldn't drop him down though. He should absolutely be in our top-5.

Grasso is kinda interesting, but this is the only year he's really killed it and he's really only done it against other small east coast schools. The actual tough games Bryant has played this year, they've been obliterated - the biggest pop being a 111-44 loss to Houston.

We MUST hire a bench coach with chalk in his shoes and a guy from the Midwest. It doesn't need to be the same guy.

Hire Jason Shay as Claunch's top assistant. That would make most on here happy.

I'm a firm believer that the best path to success at Milwaukee is a guy who's going to recruit 9-10 grad transfers.
