I’d rather they hire Shay over Darner. I doubt Darner will be considered. Hard to energize a fan base over hiring a former GB coach who got fired. Please look at their career head coaching records and tell us in good conscience who should be hired ... Really, this is like a Joah Tucker Sweet 16 slam dunk!

For those who don't know, the erstwhile Green Bay coach has had 11 seasons of 20 wins or more and two seasons of more than 30 wins plus a D-2 national championship. The most he's ever made in a year of coaching is $230,000, so unlike Prohm and many of the others, he can probably be wooed. Additionally, he features a very exciting, fan-friendly style of play. If we remove the BP blinders for Jason (who I like as a person), isn't this EXACTLY the type of profile that we're looking for? By the way, how has the coaching switch worked out for GB?

Pass. It also appears as if Billy Donlon, with a $350,000 a year base salary on a deal that runs through March 2025 with a steep buyout, is beyond our means.

I just don’t understand the desire to consider Linc Darner. He was average at GB and got fired from there. He has yet to get another head coaching job. I think we can do better. Darner was fired in a cost-cutting move by the AD. In 5 years, he finished in the top 4 in four of them and got GB to the big dance for the first time in 20 years. He also worked on a tighter budget than what he'd have here. He's not my first candidate but we could do a lot worse. As for my thoughts on Jason Shay, it's a no. I've wanted HC experience for awhile and quite frankly, having only one year is a non-starter. That's great that former players could give a glowing endorsement but that doesn't supersede the more important qualification.

But the fan base will be energized with a guy who has a LIFETIME head coaching record of 13-12? He has as many years as a HC as years suspended from coaching in the NCAA.

It's a grind-it-out style, but the guy knows how to win. McCollum should be in the mix as well.

Given Joah Tucker's selection as a TV analyst and volunteering to host the Lunch'N'Learn that was posted here a couple of months ago, I'm guessing his input will be highly regarded by AB. I would certainly welcome his input, as well as from anyone else of his stature. However, I'm hopeful he doesn't let bias for one of his assistant coaches from the good old days (Jason Shay) get in the way of rational thinking.

Agreed. We should be focused on creating some NEW magic instead of somehow recapturing that old Black (and Gold) magic.

You may be right Darner may not be considered, but I can’t believe it would be because he was fired . After seeing who GB hired and reading the settlement agreement it became a little clearer.

How about Phil Martelli at Michigan? Ask CSU Vikings fans how Rollie Massimino turned out. We need some youthful energy and drive who knows no limits.
