Good post Cactus,,,devoid of bitterness....how about the successful young coach at Nicholls State also Yes, Austin Claunch of Nicholls State would also be near the very top of my preference list. He is a proven winner in a program that had little success before he got there. At age 32, he likely relates well to players. As I stated nearly two months ago in one of Jimmy's "Our Proposal" threads, add a grizzled associate coach who knows how to recruit in the upper midwest (e.g. Tony Jones of Oakland or Ed Schilling of GCU), and we would be good to go. I like that AB proactively acknowledged to Todd Rosiak that such a pairing is something she would consider.

Lamont Paris literally checks all the boxes that everyone has, and he’s seldom being mentioned in this thread. I hope we at a minimum reach out to him. Most coaches mentioned will be a tremendous upgrade, so I’ll likely be happy as long as we get a proven HC.

Just sick of watching us lose. I would do a Lavell assistant, last time we had success. 11-24 isn't success in my book. The unexpected HLT run was fun, though. Let's be honest, if LaVall wasn't a Butler guy, he'd be in the unemployment line with Baldwin. His record is not up to Butler standards, so why would one of his assistants be an option? Makes no sense to me for what we need. Enough of the on-the-job training crap. WE NEED A HEAD COACH ON DAY ONE!

Let me say this twice without flinching… John Brannen John Brannen Dude dominated Horizon league when he took over NKU who was still in era of going DI… at UC won conference, then Covid hits and a new AD in second year wanted someone else. Have two buddies who work in athletics at UC who said Brannen got screwed… dude has won his whole life. He would be a HOMERUN hire… we can’t go assistant way. Seriously check out Brannen succes in horizon This seems like low-hanging fruit. Brannen was fired for cause, for running overly strenuous "conditioning" drills that were meant to be punitive and resulted in a player needing medical attention, then attempting to intimidate players into not cooperating with the UC investigation. Plus, Brannen provided extra benefits to another player. One would think ideally the Panthers could find a coach that doesn't have that baggage attached to them, as there can be a pretty large pool of coaches not fired for cause. If the school is not going to be having a diverse hire, it seems like the least they could do is find someone not previously fired for cause. [br Look at all these colleges, they try to pin everything on “cause” so not to pay them. A lot of UC and NKU players have come to his defense and said it was a free throw drill, my God, half of coaches in country be fired for “cause”…the improper player benefit was paying for player to get mental health $130 bucks, will wade made “big ass offer” but still has a job…intimidation piece is joke from what my guy told me…listen he has great track record. I want a winner… give me Drew or Brannen

I really don’t know how much involvement or influence she would have in any of this but I know Makda Fessahaye. Great person and professional.

At the very best he didn't get along with the UC staff, and at worst he was rightfully dismissed. It would seem that legally it stands as a rightful termination for the time being. Hundreds of candidates, it doesn't make sense to pick the one with a giant red flag. Wouldn't put it past the administration though.

Curious.. Realistically what does everyone think the chances are that AB reads the message board? Thoughts on possibility AB talking only to candidates that the search firm recommends.

Employees are on the message board. If there's anything they think she'd find relevant, I'm sure they'd let her know. I have no idea what any of us could say that she'd care to hear, but they're here.

I wish Jason Shay had more than one year of head coaching experience. I'd prefer the Panthers go with someone who has head coaching experience and view him as a wild card.

I want someone with at LEAST five years of head-coaching experience. Can we afford to "rebuild" for another six years or more?

What is everyone's thoughts on Steve Prohm? Lot of success at Murray State. Then he spent six years at Iowa State - went to three NCAA tournaments but had three losing seasons.

Prohm would be great. But he will likely be offered a job by a much more prominent program. I doubt we will be able to compete for his services. I watched some of his videos including recent Field of 68 podcasts. He seems to have a confident, no-nonsense, strong-willed personality, the likes that we have not seen in this program for 17 years. My gut feel is that would eventually clash with someone like AB.

John, I say this in the friendliest way, but it's occasionally necessary to point out that you suffer from a severe and ongoing delusion brought on by a condition known as pearlidolatritus. Or maybe that's just a bad rash.
