Yeah Shay would be about as bad of a hire you could get. Can't even believe some of you want him. I think some of you would take any coach that got any of BP's sweat on him one time. BP is a singular figure in college hoops right now any ideas that Shay could replicate that is wishful as best and deluded at worst. This must be satire, right?

A one year head coach who went 13 and 12? With the clown type move he pulled at ETSU no satire. BPs kid would be a better hire if we are going to go that route. I shook BPs had back in the day sh*t even shot a ball at practice once while he was coach. Maybe AB should interview me.

I really believe that we need to take a hard look at Prohm and Darner, guys. Ask yourself this: who among the names that we've heard could post a winning record and inspire a fan base within the first few years?

Shay, Prohm, and Darner should hopefully be our top three choices, if AB and company has not already decided on someone.

reginald...well....I can see why you say that actually.....exactly why hiring Jeter was a mistake according to your logic as he coached under Bo ryan...same thing and we saw the results....institutionally mediocre but it least was not total hell which came after he got launched.........I will say though that as regards x's and os'x and type of play those are intriguing aspects.... Paul, valid question.....frankly I think we might get a jump start with fans by ties to Pearl and style of play although Darner has the style of play thing also.....as far as winning right away not sure that is more realistic for one coach vs another in those three as they are inheriting a dumpster fire

Hes a career assistant who coached for one year then resigned. He doesnt scream leader of young men to me. Probably why hes been an assistant for so long.

Sadly what made Shay so courageous and willing to stand up for what is right could be a detriment in hiring him. There are a lot of haters up here too that would say he is a commie, hates America, is a Kaepernick lover etc....etc....maybe less here than up in Green Bay but....sad

Full disclosure: I like Jason Shay and sat alongside him at many Bruce Pearl radio shows. We've even got some people and places in common. I'll not comment on all of this, but his lack of experience as a head coach (and at age 49) concerns me. Steve Prohm is two years younger and has run his own show for a decade more, including multiple Big 12 Tournament titles and the 2014 CIT championship. Linc Darner is a few years older and has won a D-2 NATIONAL championship and led his first D-1 team to its first NCAA berth in 20 YEARS. Tough to beat that!

Again, anyone whose paid any attention - without a bias - can tell that all of Shay's players, even when he was an assistant, have always had an utmost respect for him. IMO, that is the biggest factor of having a winning team at the college level - and why all of Shay's teams have been winning teams.

The bigots would quickly shut up.

And for the record, I don't know Jason Shay at all. I just know of his record and resume.
Shay, Tony Jones, and very few others are the only D1 assistants I'd be comfortable with taking over our program, and I totally understand why Paul and others are hesitant about hiring someone without copious amounts of successful head coaching experience.
