Anyone truly believe we will see a Panther victory? I have others coming to the game tomorrow. The word I used is, it could be ugly tomorrow night.

Anyone truly believe we will see a Panther victory? Do you mean tomorrow or for the rest of the year? If the latter, sure; after all, we do play IUPUI again. Tomorrow? No. Of more interest to me is what happens the rest of the way. We have 13 games remaining. If we go 10-3 in those games we will finish the regular season 16-15 (14-8 in conference). Then all we would need to do to snap the streak of five consecutive unnecessary, miserable, wasted losing seasons of UWM basketball is win one game in the HLT to lock in a winning overall record. But by contrast, if we merely go 8-5 the rest of the way, we finish the regular season 14-17 (12-10 in conference) and would have to go 4-0 in the HLT and win the NCAAT play-in game (we would have no chance of being seeded higher than that) to secure a winning record of 19-18. (Obviously, we would be demolished by whichever 1 or 2 seed we would have to play in the "second" round NCAA game, but we could afford that inevitable loss from a winning season standpoint.) So who thinks we can go either 10-3 the rest of the way or 8-5 plus 5-1 in the HLT and NCAAT? Or do I hear 9-4? Raise your hands! And as you think about it, recall all the silly puffery of pre-season when there were actually people here who wanted to believe that this team would somehow belie all the evidence that has literally been right there in front of our eyes for five awful years.

I fully expect a 30 point loss.

Detroit News reporter Tony Paul tweeted earlier this evening that Oakland will be without at least one key starter for this weekend’s two games in Wisconsin. I’m guessing it is likely Covid related. The Grizzlies aren’t especially deep. If it’s Cain or Moore who won’t play, Milwaukee would really be catching a break. It was also reported that Detroit Mercy is expected to be at full strength for its two upcoming road games, including the Saturday matchup with the Panthers.
Update: an OU contact indicates it is not Cain or Moore who will be unable to play.

My bad, I was just gauging the positive/negative thoughts on the OU game, not really the rest of the season. Seeing if anyone was still optimistic about being able to pull off a win against the upper tier of the Horizon... Fran, I like your commitment to laying out the rest of the schedule and where we might realistically end up. It's not good, that is for sure.

Speaking of the status of players, I don't suppose we will hear anything about the status of ours until, oh, after some ticket holders are already on the way downtown? That seems to be one current method to keep the actual attendance of paying fans at least in the low three digits.

Fran
I have to say I share the cynicism here. Have to maintain those Path to Prominence stretch metrics or "lie" trying!!

I mean ill be going Today and Saturday for sure, but sure would be nice if PBJ could find his way on the court. Considering how he was walking last saturday. I didnt see any limp. I get that ankles can linger for a long time, but its really weird to see him walking around with no brace on it if its really that injured.

Had been reported that Oakland was going to be missing a player in the rotation tonight. Ending up being Chris Conway who is the backup big averaging about 9 minutes a game. Needed a lot of luck to win and doesn’t look great so far.

I believe that this statement bridges the two sides of the longstanding argument: this program is in a dark place right now.
