"UIC leaders engaged in an inflammatory and misleading media campaign that attacked the League, including posting contact information of the League’s university presidents and chancellors on official UIC websites."
It looks like university presidents and chancellors did not like getting "attacked" with emails. The squeaky wheel got the grease. It would be great if UWM's chancellor acts the same way after getting all of those emails requesting replacement of it's athletic director.

I was listening to WSCR sports radio out of Chicago on the way to work this morning. The UIC AD was on and talk about sanctimonius and hypocritical. It was all about the student athlete being first and he skirted questions regarding did they factor in the by laws etc when leaving the conference and the timing of that. It was well, we have paid the financial penalties and the by the way the law is antiquated and does not fit current scenario including more liberal student athlete transfer portal Like they were deliberately doing something noble by ignoring the by law and putting the student athlete first. My question is did they ever challenge the by law before it applies to them and years ago when it was enacted my suspicion is they voted for it at the time. A pox on both their houses.....

Yeah, it's hard to conjure much sympathy for UIC as an institution. It certainly seems that this was a mess of their own making.

This was the right decision, as it isn’t the athletes’ fault that the university and the MVC didn’t wait two extra months to announce the move. I’m not sure if the Horizon League could financially punish UIC for this by withholding any payments associated with the HLT, but that would be a more appropriate punishment.
It stinks for UWM, though, as without UIC, UWM was just about sure to host a HLT game. UWM now needs to get ahead of UIC in the standings to get a home game, and UIC has a much easier schedule (YSU, RMU, GB, and MKE). As much as I complain about this team, I still want to go to another home game.

UIC is so hypocritical. You voted for this! Let the kids play. I’m good with that. Don’t let them keep any revenue (ticket sales, concession and merchandise sales, financial incentives if they get to Indy, etc.) If UIC doesn’t agree to that, then it’s UIC’s decision to take away the experience from their student athletes. Not sure if this is possible, but this seems like a simple solution.
