I wonder how much Snagglepuss paid Alcorn to come here and beat us today? I also wonder what happened to the so-called "standards" she set for our program in March 2016. This program hasn't been anywhere near them for 6 years running, with no consequences. The going rate is about $100,000. A.B. should be ousted for misappropriation of funds. Well, there goes any last trace of excitement for the rest of the year. You can call it a practice game or whatever you want, but this game was far more important than that. The only other buy game I can recall here was Omaha in 2010. It's just not a game you lose.

If anyone ever needed any confirmation about what a difference coaching makes, has anyone been paying attention to Te'jon this year? He's been phenomenal with BYU so far. We never saw his full potential like this under PBS.

So we paid two teams to come in and kick our ass.

What is with Deandre Gholston this season? Shooting poor from three. Wilder shots in the paint. Not getting to the foul line. 10 attempts all season. Last season Dre shot 2.1/5.6 for 37% while this season he is at 1.8/5.6 for 32%. Although he seems off from 3 he is one good shooting game away from being exactly where he was at last year. As for the wilder shots in the paint and lack of free throws I think it is a combination of a few things. Without Tejon around he is being asked to do a lot more with the ball which has led to more fatigue. Tired legs lead to more settling for jump shots and less driving to the hoop and drawing fouls. Dre is being asked to bail out the offense more in dead possessions which in part leads to more inefficient shots.

All kidding aside, Tony, we all want the best for Josh and all the players and parents. What we've witnessed from the administration here for the last eight and a half years to say the least hasn't been positive. PBS, who has produced very poor results for five of them, is swept up in this mess but clearly should have known about this when he took the job. +100 PS: Does anyone know (I didn't hear the radio call, was at the game downtown)- will PBJ be playing Thursday or not until Saturday? PPS: With Gholston, JT and Baldwin Jr., and when not playing Top 10 Florida, we are a completely different team. Not saying that those 3 can make up for a lack of strategy on offense (our defense is not that incredibly bad), but those 3 might inspire some other players to step up. And with an improvement in our shot creating plays, could yet make this a good Panther season. I guess I just can't stress how much of an impact our "Big 3" have on this team. We need all three of them and whichever other 6 want to win the most. *Offensive sets- need to draw up new, simple ones, if the existing ones are too hard for this team to execute or not working or both. I see a lot of confusion that shouldn't be there: in-game. This team wants to win more than we want them to. Coaches too. It's time someone sounds the alarm and makes the necessary adjustments. And reminds this team what they set out to do. I really hope we don't see the same old song Thursday night. It's time this team starts winning and having fun.

Scratch that question on PBJ. Sounds like it is wait and see Thursday (f/Journal-Sentinel):
"He's getting better by the day," Baldwin said. "We just wanted to take another day of precaution for him, and hopefully he'll be ready to go by Thursday."
"The Panthers could have used the firepower." -Rosiak

How do we know EKY is a buy game? Thanks. Still weird that UWM & EKY wouldn't be a H/H.

Based on those numbers for similar schools, I would guess we likely paid somewhere between $30-60K. Probably on the higher end since we were supposed to be good this year and I’m sure that didn’t help with our negotiations. The averages are skewed by the majority of the P5 schools paying larger amounts. For reference, we were paid $95K from Wisconsin and $85K from Kansas that year.

How do we know EKY is a buy game? Jon Rothstein is not a reliable source. He's a garbage journalist.

I remember way back when Bo Ryan was building this program from the basement (pretty much where we are now, by the way, despite having one of the top recruits in the nation!) He believed in making the home court a fortress. That's where the turnaround began. Under this coach, we're now 26-30. I would suggest that nearly any program in the country would come to the Arena today and feel that they have at least even odds of winning.

After having slept on yesterday's loss, I'm thoroughly convinced that any competent administration would have fired Baldwin this morning after such a loss.
Already a lame duck, there is simply nothing to be lost by cutting him loose now, as opposed to later. It could be argued that PBJ has already regressed markedly by being here, but I never bought the hype from the beginning.
You can't tell me that the program would be any worse off by, for example, bringing in Chris Hill on an interim basis to ride this season out. We can't get any worse than where we currently are. However, I have no delusions that Snagglepuss would actually do it.
