Loyola just announced they’re leaving. Can Milwaukee grab their spot or will they go 0-3.

Sadly, I would say there's about a 3% chance.

Sadly, I would say there's about a 3% chance. This may be our last chance. I expect a full, all-out effort which will hopefully give us a better chance. Also, I know no one wants to consider it but conducting another Football Feasibility Study wouldn’t hurt our chances.

The 3 rumored candidates in Matt Norlander's article today were Murray State, UT Arlington and Kansas City.
Hopefully that's like the time Pete Thamel reported that NMSU and Tarleton were in talks with Conference USA

If you were handicapping the various HL teams for their chances, I suspect we would fall in well behind Wright State, NKU and, believe it, UIC.
But to be honest I think Valpo’s faceplant since joining the MVC has probably diminished interest in any Horizon program.

How do we know the MVC will be inviting anyone? Doesn't losing Loyola put them back at 10 schools after adding Belmont? Maybe the MVC knew Loyola would be leaving, and that's why they invited Belmont, so that they'd remain at 10?

According to Matt Brown, the pecking order for the MVC was UTA > Kansas City > Murray State. This was all before Loyola was leaving, so UIC might jump into the mix there.
I'm becoming a broken record here but if Murray State doesn't get the call, the Horizon needs to try to make a move whether it loses a school or not.

Am I missing something? What has Kansas City done to warrant a potential bid? All they’ve done is rebrand themselves from UMKC and move to the Summit. They’re not even a new market. I get the other two but this doesn’t make much sense.

I get the other two but this doesn’t make much sense. They have been told they need to get “shovels in the ground” ASAP regarding their facilities too. How about UT Arlington ? All they have going for them is that they are in Arlington, which gives access to a big market (Dallas) but doesn’t make much sense otherwise geographically. Talk about low major, the lost to OKST by 43 points, a team Oakland beat.

It feels like Kansas City is being talked to because Missouri State might leave...but if Missouri State leaves (even if KC is added) UTA is even further out on an island.

It should open your eyes to how far we've fallen that the likes of UMKC and UT Arlington have surpassed us.

Given the remarkable fluidity of conferences, every game is a possible resume-builder and recruiting pitch. What did last night say about us?

It should open your eyes to how far we've fallen that the likes of UMKC and UT Arlington have surpassed us. While there’s some truth in that, by that logic, Wright State, Northern Kentucky, and UIC are also below UMKC and UTA (who lost to UNT by 28 yesterday, probably an even worse showing than MKE yesterday). There has to be more than men’s basketball dominance about the choice of these two programs. I have no idea what, though.
