I bet fans remember the 2014 team more than the 2011 team who won conference and hosted the HL Tournament and lost because 2014 made the tournament. I'd love to do both but I'll take a conference tournament run any day of the week. Runs in the conference tournament can make you millions. Just ask LaVall Jordan.

I agree that tournament success means a lot more than regular season success, but tournament success means winning the tournament. Nobody other than die hard fans care about making it to the semi finals of the Horizon League tournament. The only reason PBS was invited on the local radio shows this last week was because of the 24 point comeback. He wouldn’t have been on any of these shows if the Panthers only came back from a 4 point deficit with 6 minutes to go. The Panthers have finished in the lower half of the conference in the regular season in each of PBS’ first four years, and nothing less than a conference tournament win would erase the stench of that sub-mediocrity in any fair weather fan’s eyes. And PBS has still never been closer than 2 wins away from that. Agree 100%. Conference tournaments are really what matters most. But the tournament becomes a lot easier to win when you aren’t constantly an 8 seed having to get past #2, then #1. Just to get to the finals.

They said on the broadcast tonight that the one seed has only won the tournament once in the last years, just an absurd stat lol. Shockingly I think of current HL teams we still somehow have the most tourney championships. Although I would expect NKU to change that in the next couple years.

While the 1 seeds haven’t had much success in the Horizon League Tournament over the past 7 years or so, they’ve still had more success than teams seeded 6-12. Of course, 1 seeds would have a much better chance of winning the tournament if they have home court advantage in the tournament (hint, hint Horizon League!)

Hard to believe the troubles the 1 seed has has over the years. Here are the tournament champions since 2010, along with their seed:
2010 - Butler (1) 2011 - Butler (2) 2012 - Detroit (3) 2013 - Valpo (1) 2014 - Milwaukee (5) 2015 - Valpo (1) 2016 - Green Bay (4) 2017 - NKU (4) 2018 - Wright State (2) 2019 - NKU (2) 2020 - NKU (2) 2021 - TBD (either 1 or 3)
So while you don’t necessarily have to be a 1 seed, it seems that being 1-4 in the regular season is crucial to have a chance. Unless you have Tiby in the lineup, of course.
Under Baldwin, we’ve been the following:
2018 - 6 seed 2019 - DNQ (only top 8 made tourney but we would have been 10 seed) 2020 - 8 seed 2021 - 8 seed
While 2018 and 2021 provided some excitement, the data shows we never really had a chance. One thing I’ve learned about sports over the years is that the numbers/stats usually don’t lie.

So in the Horizon League final we’re going to have the team who lost by 55 to Ohio (101-46) against the team who lost by 52 to Xavier (101-49). Gotta love sports.

By my count, three current members have three: Northern Kentucky, which joined the league in 2015-16; Green Bay, which joined the league with us in 1994-95; and Detroit Mercy, an original member from 1979-80.

Hey guys had to take some time to because I was feeling sad about last night because we had a chance to win and wanted to go the dance and wasn’t able to achieve that. Also I want to say thanks to all you guys on the panel for letting me into the panther world to be able to talk about what I saw in my opinion what was going on in our program I always told you guys REAL and gave you as much uncut unedited inside behind the scenes access as much as possible because you guys deserved to know what’s really was going on with the team some I didn’t share because it was too crazy. But to all the people I met at the games thank you for your kindness and accepting J.T. as one of your own he really played with his heart and soul for Milwaukee and he really appreciated your support.

"We fought back from going down early, closed the gap at halftime and pushed our lead out in the second half. But there were a lot of plays out there on the floor that escaped us," said Baldwin. "Where we some that we had to make and we didn’t, and Cleveland State did.
"Give them credit."

I'm guessing the answer is no. Are any of the senior's coming back next year? Any rumor's on PBJ?

In terms of who I would want back, I think that J.T. is at the top of my list, Tony. I'm very fond of "gamers."
