This is from a story in this evening's St. Louis Dispatch:
"If the Cardinals are unable to play play their full slate of 60 games, Major League Baseball has indicated it will use winning percentage to determine playoff berths."
Since the 2020 season is not a "regular" season and it is planned for the champion to emerge from a 16 team fall tournament, I guess I am OK with that. If I would be a Cardinals pitcher, without an opportunity to stay sharp during these two weeks off, and then start pitching in meaningful games whenever the team resumes play, I would be mighty nervous. They will be at greater risk for career ending injury. While I do not wish that for any player of any team, from a team standpoint I would not mind if that were to happen to key Cardinals pitchers.

As poorly as many Brewer batters have hit this season, a record of 6-7 is not bad. I'll take it. If the hitters start hitting at least consistent with the stats on the back of their baseball cards, they should be in pretty good shape going into the fall tournament.
Of course, this assumes they behave well on and off the field and do not get infected along the way, and the entire league can make it that far.

The St. Louis at Pittsburgh series scheduled to start tomorrow was just postponed. The Cardinals will then be "expected" to play 55 games in 44 days. Obviously, that's never going to happen. So short of granting forfeit wins to the Brewers, Tigers, Cubs and Pirates, what would you do if you were Rob Manfred? Frankly forfeits should be used, just so the Cards can get a full schedule in. They'll be in the basement with the Pirates , for a bit at least

Forfeits would give a significant unfair advantage to teams in the central division of each league, especially the NL Central. Because of this year's region-only schedule, forfeits would only be awarded to central teams. The last two playoff spots in each league go to remaining teams with the best records after the top two in each division. Forfeits will not work well under the current format.

You don't want teams only playing 20 games because of covid outbreaks either. The Cardinals have simply missed too many games to make up, not with the compressed schedule.

Lauer is this year's Corbin Burnes 2019 edition. I hope that the Brewers didn't give up anything to get this guy. He's a bum!

Brewers lose 4-2 to the Cubs who are clearly the class of the division.

Break up the Cardinals. Please! They're going to be a lead weight around MLB's neck all year. Obviously, they're not going to be able to play 55 games over the next 44 days. No way in HELL (aka St. Louis in the summer)!!!

Gallant effort tonight by Woodruff, but he's reached the bottom of the tank now. 3-1 Cubs in the bottom of 5.

Humongous win for the Brewers tonight! We can't dig ourselves too big a hole. After all, there are only 42 games remaining.

Freddy Peralta, pitched two scoreless innings and struck out five. That inning could have been ugly. MVP of the game.
''I thought Freddy was wonderful tonight,'' Craig Counsell said. ''I think he kind of just let it go from pitch one and it was impressive.''
