The White Sox made an early Hot Stove splash this morning by announcing a four-year, $73 million contract with free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal. And, yes, they actually announced the terms in the press release, which is unusual and very much appreciated.

Brewers have acquired infielder Luis Urias and left-hander Eric Lauer from the San Diego Padres for outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander Zach Davies.
This wasn't the only move for the Padres on Wednesday. They also reached an agreement with left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz, pending a physical.

Brewers let 5 players walk, including Jimmy Nelson and Travis Shaw. Lots of holes to fill, if we want to get back to the playoffs again

Interesting comment from Richard Justice on mlb.com yesterday:
Don't sleep on the Brewers
One of MLB's smartest front offices is at it again. General manager David Stearns has cut ties with 14 of 25 players from the NL Wild Card Game, and his signing of free-agent pitcher Josh Lindblom -- fresh off an MVP season in the Korean Baseball Organization -- is just a start. Two things seem certain: Stearns will find under-the-radar free agents who will contribute, and the Brewers will be in contention as usual.

What position will he play?
I hear he plays right field, and the Crew already has one of those.
