Serious question: I'm no longer a season ticket holder, have drastically reduced going to games (just two in each of the past two seasons), and basically follow the team online. I've written a handful of emails to Braun and Mone expressing my displeasure with their leadership. What else can be done besides not care anymore? If the university administration was okay with her alienating our biggest donors, I don't know what to tell you. I fear that what we are really seeing is the beginning of the end stage of Milwaukee athletics. I now have a history with this program going back almost 50 years. The sad truth is that there have always been forces on campus that disdained athletics. Perhaps she was the Manchurian AD all along. Practically speaking you could not have hurt our men's basketball program more in the last 25 months than she has done if you expressly set out to do so. Occam's razor, folks. At this point maybe the only safe assumption is that that really was her intention. Thanks for the reply. I'll fire off my emails tonight just to make myself feel a little better. I guess I'll just grab some popcorn and watch the train wreck from afar. In the meantime I'm going to put in the our first HL Championship game at the Arena against Butler. I remember it like it was yesterday. |

Doesn't sound like this one is stable. Really? PB as not coached a game with any of his own players yet. I agree with Bell, we need some coaching stability. Let's give PB a chance with his own players. But if the new players have a premature mass exodus later in their careers, then his own stability as Panther coach should be in question. |

Wow, you know your day has sucked when jury duty was the SECOND crappiest part! Next season is already more hopeless than the post-season ban year. Them leaving is bad enough but the timing makes it even worse!
I have a feeling another could be on his way out too and after today, would be even less surprised if it happens.

I would love to just wash my hands of this program at this point. It's a complete and utter embarrassment, in no other uncertain terms. I was not a fan of Coach Jeter's style and results. I wanted a change. I wanted to experience what left when Bruce Pearl moved on. At least Rob was respected. At least he could trot out a mediocre or above average team. At least he provide some stability in a department crumbling around him.
All I can suggest is that when you e-mail Amanda Braun and Mark Mone (and Ray Cross?), you refrain from childish insults and taunts. Those are the e-mails that will be instantly disregarded. Rather, emphasize your disappointment with what the program and athletic department has become. For those of us who have been part of the UWM family for longer than the last 5 years, there have been brighter days. Remind them of those days. Remind them of what the university and department once was and what it can and should become. They are squandering the opportunity in front of them.
What else can we do?

- They (Braun and Mone) did not care what a multi-millionaire mega donor thought.
- They (Braun and Mone) still don't care what he thinks.
- Why....WHY do you think they (Braun and Mone) will give your "emails" about "the glory days" and your "disappointment" a first thought, much less a second?
They (Braun and Mone) are from the academic world, thus they believe, in their core, that THEY ARE SMARTER (and therefore better) THAN ANYONE, especially all of us unwashed masses, non-graduate degree educated, blue collar, deplorables. We are beneath them, and always will be. Our opinion is irrelevant. Our existence is, at times, offensive to them. Braun will get her extension and her 5 years of salary locked in. Book it. Done and done. Mone will continue to be the Chancellor until he decides to leave or die. No one in academia EVER gets fired, especially from an insulated, self-serving, low profile school like UW-Milwaukee. Just move on. They don't care if you stay, so why would you stay where you are neither wanted or appreciated. I am now holding "open tryouts" for a new program to affiliate myself with....maybe Butler...maybe MU. But I will pick one that wants me in the fold, not one that looks down its nose at me. |
