You realize you're talking about a university that wouldn't contribute ONE THIN DIME to the construction of the state-of-the-art arena that they will be playing in starting next season, right? LOL By the way, has anyone seen those lease terms yet??? So, Marquette should pay to build a building that they have zero control of or get zero revenue from? No, but the lease agreement should be made public. Seeing as the arena was partially funded by tax-payer money.

Pantherholic, I have to defend Fran on this one. Simply totally not true. There's no good reason to restart the series now or for any foreseeable time in the future. The dept placated to everyone several years back and how many games were competitive? 1? Remarkable. Someone once said it was "good for the city". Why? Chaminade has a better record in the Maui Invitational than UWM does against Marquette. If this series is good for the city, this city is more screwed up than it already is.

They play three dimensional chess.
We play chutes & ladders.
That's the difference in strategic thinking now.

We never know what leases are for concerts and shows. Years past we did, so in time I think we might. I have a strong feeling Marquette is paying alot.

Looks like the $20 tickets are gone. $10 tickets are left.

Marquette should not get to play in a taxpayer-funded, brand new arena for a nominal fee just because they are "Marquette." If they are paying any less than $500,000/yr to play in that building, the taxpayers are getting screwed. If they want revenue, they have more than enough money in their endowment fund to build their arena.

I posted this in a recruitment thread but it is more relevant here:
In his interview with Scaffidi and Bilstadt on WTMJ, Coach Baldwin answered a question about competing with MU in recruiting. He pretty much said they do not recruit the same "LEVEL" of players as MU. That was way too Jeteresque for my liking. Ghost of Dylan and I have had several discussions over the years about this very issue.
Why the public display by Coach Baldwin of self defeatism? Whether true or not, he could have expressed more optimism about pursuing some of the same caliber of players. We need to go no further than seeing Sandy Cohen on Green Bay's roster.

I will say MU is not getting anything just because they are "Marquette" There rent at the Bradley Center is double per year than the number you listed. So, one could only wonder how much more the cost will be in the new arena. Also, with the public paying less than half with taxes not going up one cent. It's a fair deal for everyone. So, let's not overplay we are paying for this thing card.

I think this game is a great idea. My uninformed guess is that it may net $40,000-50,000 for hurricane relief, and that will be given in the name of both schools. Or perhaps it goes into a fund with all the money raised from all the charity exhibitions. But I have to wonder what some of you are complaining about. Granted, many of you are not, and we have all gotten used to Fran's pathological hatred of all things Marquette, but what is there to be unhappy about?
Both teams get to play an extra exhibition against a D-1 opponent. Both teams get to generate interest in their programs, which is why both coaches were on a radio show together. Neither school is making any money off the deal. Since the Al is there and since Marquette regularly has events there and charges admission, it is set up to do that. The costs for the schools are minimal, since the game is being held on Marquette's campus. It will likely make more money than it would if either school rented their regular arena for the day, which would probably cost more than could be raised by selling tickets. When the team played at UWM, there was a mixed group of ROTC candidates from both schools that presented the colors, which was nice. What is there possibly to be unhappy about?

MU 78-63 UWM. From reading Roziak’s play-by-play, seems pretty respectable even for a scrimmage. Solid showing by B. Prahl with 15.

Not to be picky, wasn't a scrimmage but an exhibition game.

I really like Vance Johnson and Carson Newsome. The bigs will be great for the Panthers. Must stay out of foul trouble. Bell didn't play. Must be hurt?
