Or you can look at it as he was the top assistant coach at a B1G school in Northwestern. Not your father's Northwestern. My father would never root for Northwestern, but these are minor details. One NCAA appearance and 4th place finish doesn't give you the moniker of "Not your fathers ______" at any rate. However, I'm not going to hold your sunshine and rainbows outlook against you. It serves you well. Northwestern going to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever is pretty damm impressive. I do believe you are the first to call me sunshine and rainbows. It's normally a**hole and always b*tching about something.  |

Bonus points: how many championships has he won as a player or coach?

It serves you well. No it doesn't mean things are permanently turned around NU but it does mean that NU got its first ever invite to the big dance. I like the idea that this guy was part of a coaching team that turned around a weak program that was going nowhere. Coach Baldwin was the top assistant on a coaching staff that successfully did something that wasn't easy, fought inertia at a mediocre program and brought it success it never had before. That's exactly what we need here. So I say welcome Coach Baldwin |

NU fans like him. Good enough for me. Hopefully we can get a few games against the Cats out of this as well. I'm sure a few of you would enjoy sneaking onto their football field again.

I have to miss the press conference but let's knock the cliches out right away:
- He's very excited for the opportunity to be here
- The team will be a family
- The team will play tough/hard and not quit
- He will make sure there's not only a commitment to their academics but also the community
