Apparently the only people who are qualified at be the men's basketball coach at Milwaukee are Big 10 assistants. Real good then.

Uh-oh. I have done some extensive research on the new coach. I hate to be the bearer of disturbing information, but this fact is too important not to reveal.
It turns out... he's NOT Bruce Pearl!!!

On the bright side, at least there's no reason to believe the chief reason he got the job is because he will be completely beholden to our AD.
Oh, wait.

How is Baldwin a better choice than Ford? He runs a program and was the OVC coach of the year two years ago. The only advantage Baldwin had on him was the previous connection to Amanda Braun. Wait.......

Wait....... Previous connections aren't exactly uncommon. In fact, that's the primary reason Haidet hired Jeter. One could easily argue Mike Dunlap's coaching record was vastly superior to Jeter's at that time too. |

I prefer better resume which is why I wanted Billeter last year and Dunlap previously but of course the interviews can change a lot of things. Despite what's happened this offseason, Lavall was a great choice even if we're left with the "what could have been" feeling. |

Could be a coincidence but Baldwin recently followed Missouri State asst coach Keith Pickens on Twitter. Pickens was a player at Mo St during Baldwin's tenure and was promoted to asst coach last year.
Another possibility (and pure speculation on my part) is Baldwin brings someone with him from NU like Rob brought Duffy & Lavall brought Will. If this happens, Chris Lauten (Ops) and Tad Gilbert (Asst Ops/Video Coordinator) would be the candidates.

All I needed to see was that he was an assistant to pmck at UWGB for this to make me less enthused than I already was. This is how far we have fallen, huh? Hiring the flunky of Tom Crean's flunky? I'm mostly an optimistic person, but I smell Ric Cobb era v.2 on the Horizon. I hope for everyone else's sake I'm wrong... Or you can look at it as he was the top assistant coach at a B1G school in Northwestern. Not your father's Northwestern. My father would never root for Northwestern, but these are minor details. One NCAA appearance and 4th place finish doesn't give you the moniker of "Not your fathers ______" at any rate. However, I'm not going to hold your sunshine and rainbows outlook against you. It serves you well. |
