Might not be too many around at the D1 level, that would move for about the same level of pay. I guess we could see what the Alabama A&M or Chicago State coach is making. What about someone at the D-2 or D-3 level? That seems to have worked nicely for us in the past. Stop treating this like an entry-level job! What is going on here? I think we deserve some answers. I'm more than fine with a stud D2 or D3 coach.

Thanks for the article Jimmy. One of just a few scary quotes from it: “Great guy, poor coach.” Just another bad dream turning into reality... Weird that some would say that. How would some even know that. Of course, Jimmy is not going to give out names, (which I don't blame him), but it could answer some questions knowing who the coaches are.

Some thoughts:
*If Baldwin was top candidate at UWM after Otzelberger and Jordan, what is his main quality? Disturbed by the great guy poor coach talk...lord we had 11 years of that prior to Coach Val...
*As Paul mentioned, how about someone proven as coach even if D2 or D3, ie, Pearl and Ryan , respectively
More I look into this if we are going to hire African American which seems to be required to avoid negative local publicity and Mone based pablum, seem to be better chandidates like Stephen, Chew and Ford.

In fact, Mone could save a lot of money and just have Lena Taylor decide as likely what happened last time...Same thing on AD..Tammy Baldwin cheaper than search firm as she also likely decided AD against everyone else's recommendation a few years back other than one or two faculty or other mutual friends of parties involved.

Would also like to state that my last two posts are coming from someone pretty far left on the political spectrum. Conversely, I loathe political correctness and not hiring best person due to backroom pressure or sucking up for political favors down the line. Oh well, naïve on my part...feel like the subject of Phil Ochs ironic ballad from 1965, Love Me I'm A Liberal...

We can get a better coach.

Weird that some would say that. How would some even know that. Of course, Jimmy is not going to give out names, (which I don't blame him), but it could answer some questions knowing who the coaches are. It would absolutely make sense if I could put out a list of coaches. It would also be the last time any of them ever talked candidly with me. The list is pretty wide-ranging. I've kept up with a lot of assistant coaches over the years (as well as administrators and others), and that's a nice little network. I will say that nothing in that Baldwin article came from anyone that has worked for Milwaukee. That obviously includes Duffy and Shay, whose names have been linked to the job (by me and others). Unfortunately there's a lot of mystery around the search. Braun has gone radio silent, but I've been told she would be conducting interviews in Chicago starting either this weekend or today. So things should be moving forward.

Maybe it's me and maybe I'm naive but if a coach sucked at coaching, how would he be going on 5 years at the same location at a high-major program? Collins is a smart guy and you're telling me he couldn't do better than Baldwin if he wasn't that good?

You're going to fire one of the best players in school history when he has a basketball prodigy of a son committing to play in a couple years?
