Kudos to Coach Val, his staff and everyone associated with Panther men's basketball. When the vacancy was open last year he was not high on my list of choices. I wanted to go back to the formula that worked best for us previously - an experienced lower-level successful and personable coach like Tom Billeter of Augustana (SD).
Having watched Coach Val and his staff this past year, it is clear that he was indeed the right choice. I am confident he will return the program back to the top of the Horizon League.
And at some point after he does that, he will likely leave for greener pastures. But that is OK - it would mean a lot of success for the program in the near future. Hopefully he can groom one of his assistants as a competent replacement. But that is likely a few years away.

Any conceivable way that TJ would take the job?

Per Mark Belling, LJ has told Mone and Braun that he is taking the Butler job.

Any conceivable way that TJ would take the job? No. Most of the previous batch of candidates could still probably be convinced though

I think Townsend would be a great choice, also best chance at keeping all of our recruits.

I'm going with Diener.

The coaching hire is not even remotely the most important employment-related issue affecting our program.

The two internal candidates at Butler who lost out, Johnson and Pedon, should each get a call.
Honestly, there aren't many options that shouldn't be considered...even the tan one. I almost threw up in my mouth typing that.

I think that it might be the high school route this time around. Perhaps Showalter or Diener. Either that or Jack Bennett.
