After Brad Stevens left Butler, LaVall Jordan was the close to getting the job. The fan base wanted him bad.

Nagy was a really good hire, but Jordan could be a great one. Knows the Horizon League well and has recruited the Midwest for quite awhile. Hope he does well, and with Drew gone, the conference is ripe for the picking.

Interesting hire. Still have a bad taste about the whole thing but encouraged by aspects of Jordan's background. I like that they got another African-American coach. I appreciate someone with a Big Ten background, good for recruiting, etc, but also glad he has considerable experience in the Horizon League (and predecessor) and so he has to know the mid major landscape pretty well.
I am an Iowa native, and even though he was an assistant during a horrible point in the Iowa program, I like that he was there too as that had to give him some broader recruiting connections to Illinois and other parts of the Midwest beyond the Michigan/Indiana/Ohio area.
Hope he can connect with the current players, and most of all, hope he is a good presence in the media to help our program be more visible.

Interestingly I was at Valparaiso for a conference the last couple days when the news came out about Coach Drew. I was impressed with the campus and atmosphere but certainly not the arena. I had only seen the ARC a few times on TV. I am sure it is an intimidating place to play with their crowds, but it is much smaller and more dated than I imagined. Not a whole lot more impressive than the Klotsche Center.

Michigan fans sound like they expect Jordan to be a bigger loss than Alexander...so that's nice at least

I too hope he is better than what happened at U of Iowa. That was a debacle of historic proportions. And, it will interesting to see his style. More Michigan or the style Iowa tried to play that was boring.

I'm curious if he brings in an assistant with much stronger ties to the state? Steve Showalter is looking for work, Drew Diener did only leave WI last year but could see this as a step up, etc.
