I am not naive enough to think we can make the NCAA tournament every single year but making it one out of every three or hell one out of every four would be nice at this point.

Jeter has yet to get to the tournament with his own recruits. The ludicrous contract he has right now was the result of inheriting an insanely good team, making the tournament, and winning a 1st round game against Oklahoma.

I will support this team like no other regardless of who the coach is. However, I am not going to automatically be happy about everything going on in the program and be alright with settling for 15-18 win seasons.

YES! The rest of the seasons were "Ok".
Did I ever want a coach fired? Yes. I had Maryland season football tickets from '87 - '93.
Joe Krivak went 20-34-2 and I wrote a letter to the then AD Andy Geiger (Name sound familiar), stating my reasons for his dismissal. Krivak was followed by Mark Duffner(Name sound familiar. He was an assistant with the Packers) who went 3-8 then 2-9. Geiger did not want to make another change and I stopped my season tickets.
Another just firing was of Jack Magee by Georgetown who went 3-23 in the '71-'72 season. Magee was followed by John Thompson Jr. (who you may have heard of) The Hoyas struggled in his first season and some students wanted him fired, which made as much sense as you wanting Jeter fired if he goes 18-13 (which is my latest projection.) Yes, there are reasons for firing a coach, but not right now at UWM.

I have no interest in emulating anything like that. You posted the firing of coaches coming off of NCAA appearances. You do realize Jeter hasn't seen the Tourney since 2006 right? (And as said that wasn't with his recruits.)

Try posting something more rational as an argument. Such as a coach being fired that actually is having similar results to Jeter...

If you have following these blogs you would know that in the past I have cited similarities to firings of coaches with similar records to Jeter. I'll give you one glaring instance off of the top of my head. In 19882 Pitt was the # 1 football team in the country with a team that "Foge" Fazio inherited from Jackie Sherrill. In 1985 after a 5-5-1 season Fazio was fired. I have absolutely no idea how many coaches Pitt has gone through since then. They had a moderately successful coach in Walt Harris. They fired him for Dave Wandstadt, who was less moderately successful, who was fired for the coach who is now at ASU, who stayed all of one year. Yes, it looks like Paul Chryst is now the answer. Do you want to wait 30 years for someone to get back to the level of success that Pearl had in the early to mid 2000s?
And you miss the point of the Orr and Gaudio firings. Both the 'Hall and Wake had MODERATELY successful coaches. They went looking for the rainbow and didn't find it. Why go searching when with the exception of the '06/07 and last year Rob Jeter has had either improving or winning teams. Go to the games enjoy them and support Rob Jeter. If Jeter starts producing consistently LOSING teams then start talking about firing him.

I'm not going to add to the coaching debate, as my opinions have already been stated by others, so I'll just post up the usual RPI #'s and move on...

This ROAD LOSS moved Milwaukee's RPI/SOS from 145/241 to 150/239 (3-4, 12-8 vs D-I). The Panthers have now lost 6 of their last 10 games.

The home win moved Wright State's RPI/SOS from 217/308 to 200/295 (5-2, 11-9 vs D-I). The Raiders have won 8 of their last 10.

No doubt you have done some good digging; proving not every coaching change is met with success.

With respect: there are over 350 Div-1 basketball teams--isn't that a bit anecdotal?

Don't want to start an argument because I get your point. I just wanted to point out that three examples don't make a trend. Even if you had ten examples in this case it would not qualify.

BTW: I get it, Jeter isn't going any where!!! None of us has the money to buy him out. Regardless, I am going to call him what he is--a program killer--evidenced by good local high school talent that doesn't want to play here.

I think you've missed my point throughout most of my posts in various threads.

I don't necessarily want Jeter fired this instant. I will support him or any other coach of the Panthers. What I want is for him to prove that he can take the next step and get this team back to the tournament. As of now I feel he is a lousy motivating and an average recruiter. He has had talented players, he just hasn't had extreme success with any of them yet.

That's it, all I want is another tournament appearance.

So my question for you would be:

1) Do you think Jeter can actually get this team into the big dance?

and

2) How long would you give him to accomplish this before you would pull the plug?

Do not care if Jeter EVER takes UWM to the "Big Dance" so there is no time limit there.
And, I am not that big a fan of Jeter's (I just don't think he deserves to be fired). He is certainly not the coach that Gary Waters is. When I saw one of James Haarsma's first games (at NIU)I thought he was going to be a super star, and that never happened (in fact his stats regressed the next year.) Also the fellow who they called "Baby James" (I Think) never became the player that I thought he should have been.
What I am worried about is in getting rid of a coach who I deem acceptable we make a Bobby Gonzalez (Has his suit against the Hall ever been settled) or Mike Rice Jr. hire, which frankly could doom the program.
I will try and bow out of this debate (though I probably started it) . You are certainly entitled to your opinion. There are certainly more important issues to worry about than who coaches UWM. I spent years somewhat involved in the David Camm case in IN. Here was a guy who spent 13 years in prison for a murder that he was ultimately found not guilty of. Now that was something to worry about.

Go Panthers 33. I think you got to the gist of the thing. In any event I will continue season tickets and enjoy, support the program whether Rob is coach or not. That being said I care passionately about the program and believe his time is running out. We seem to have plateaud. He indeed is a mediocre game coach, motivator, poor salesmen and average at best recruiter. We are not talking the Big Ten here so you would think at some point we could sneak in to the NCAA under his reign. That would be huge and frankly what is needed to get some mojo back in town and buzz. Short of that we are going to limp along I am afraid. Boy did we blow an almost once in a lifetime opportunity after the Sweet 16 season to continue on and capitalize. Oh well, it is what it is but at some point getting back to the NCAA has to be our goal and it HAS to happen relatively soon otherwise I see us becoming slowly more irrevelant. I would say if Rob comples 10 freakin years with only the first year on his resume with none of his own recruits followed by 9 straght years of no tourney other than one and done NIT and one and done CBI or whatever it was ....enough...I know it is a financial hit but at what price overall?? Kind of like the KC move, dollar wise and penny foolish.

Since his first season, Jeter's record against Division 1 opponents is 110-126.

Have you checked the local newscasts, local sports updates or the local newspaper lately? Can we get more irrelevant?
