Out of curiosity, where does the $40 million number come from? Or for that matter, where does the $40 million itself come from? Cost proposal for a 5,000 seat venue with infrastructure in place to expand to 8,000 down the road. Prepared and provided by Kahler Slater. [img src="[/img] "] Attachments:

This is the one where the tip of the indoor track actually is part of the concourse during games, right? Well, an indoor track facility would eliminate that oddity.

Doesn't look like the University paid Kahler all that much for this study, since they gave them such a rough rendering. It's difficult to get an actual sense of capacity in this image. I would guess the lower bowl would probably hold something in the 3100 range, since all the seats are shown as bleachers. That number will drop once seats are added to the equation. freshmilwaukee are there other plans/renderings available for us to view?
Kahler-Slater is a stellar firm, the new La Bahn ice arena here in Madison is a great facility and I enjoy the Kress Center in UWGB quite a bit. The variable here is the University, if they cheap out like they did with the Pavilion, or don't demand/question quality design work it won't matter which firm draws the plans. We'll be stuck with a sub par building. Part of the problem is the Director of UAP, his incompetence is holding back our campus (but that's another rant).
We're not the University of Missed Opportunities for nothing.

Either adjoined to the current KC with the track left in place. Or if one of the other two of five sites were selected then stand alone building.

I don't understand all the complaining about Black PantherU's idea. At least he cares about it enough to offer up an idea, which is more than I can say for the university to date. Although I don't necessarily agree with every aspect of his idea, he offers up something bold hoping to move the basketball program to a higher level while attempting to do it so as to get the biggest bang for the buck. Renovating the Klotsche Center is small thinking and, in my opinion, doomed to failure as any on-campus arena would be. 100% agreement panther. There are parts of his plan I don't agree with either but his overall vision is exactly where this program NEEDS to be. Yes its only an idea for now but that's where everything starts. If facilities don't matter, everyone wouldn't be upgrading them. Since everyone IS upgrading them that should tell you something. If facilities don't matter why did Pearl push to move to the Cell? A Loyola style renovation is small thinking. If we want to be Milwaukee's team, we aren't going to achieve it in an area most Milwaukeeans don't want to go to see a game. Might sound petty to some but that's the reality. In the never-ending world of conference realignment, you have to plan for the future and not the present. A Loyola style renovation is nothing but a plan for the present.

I mean to give people with ideas and thoughts sh*t for having them is completely assbackwards. You can't have these "plans" you speak of without ideas or thoughts now can you...

The Cell has alot of possibilities....and its a great venue for basketball. We need dynamic leadership and creative minds to make it work. I also wanted to send out a BIG "THANK YOU" to the 20 students that showed up for the home games at the KC this past season.
