At this point I have honestly run out of things to say. This program has flat-lined.
If the AD is indeed planning on keeping Jeter through his contract (which they essentially are, since they can't buy out his contract), then this program is doomed. What competitive player in his right mind would sign with Milwaukee over a rival HL team, let alone a team from the Valley or the MAC?
Do not be surprised if this stretch, coupled with the University's financial troubles, an apathetic university community, and complete lack of structure in the Athletic Department, drops all sports down to D3 within the next decade. It really is a shame, too. UWM athletics were on top of the world a decade ago. Hell, they have still been fantastic as a whole until very recently. But I fear it's all going to end.

This program has flat-lined. Flat-lined or plummeting down the mountainside like Tony the Mimbo? Seriously, dude.

No matter how you word it, I just don't see how it can get worse at this point. I just miss the days of my undergrad when anything was possible for these teams.

looks like the shooting magic of Austin Arians is gone. I can't help but think nerves played a bit of a role with his poor shooting tonight. Between the nationally televised game and the large crowd, I think he was a bit out of his comfort zone. The "good news" is we probably won't see a crowd like that for the rest of the season. Just a poor night of shooting overall. 3/20 from three point land just won't cut it. Or he might just be the next Ryan Thornton.

Perhaps all-cotton uniforms are the answer?

I know things seem terrible right now --- because they are --- but let's not hit the panic switch. There will be no division change. Even assuming Jeter tanks this program for the next four years, rebuilding can and will occur.
We don't need to look very far back for the evidence. Until 1999, this was a joke of a program with almost no history, no fan support, and no reason to believe it would ever amount to much of anything. Pretty bleak when you think about it. At least now we have history to point to ---- proof that this program can succeed. I wasn't able to attend the game last night, but despite this season's utter futility, that looked like a nice packed house with great student attendance to boot. This alone gives me some optimism.
Now it's entirely possible that the basketball program will become the next Prairie View or (insert perennially bad low-major program here), but it will be competing at a D1 level.

I hope you're right, pantherfan. But I think the difference between now and 1999 is the fact that college tuition only continues to rise every year, and I'm starting to think that people will start demanding that the University prioritize and drop the athletics programs that no one is supporting.

anyone know why Kyle Kelm hasn't been playing? Jeter basically said that Kelm is playing beyond soft and when he's in the game, he has no passion and is ineffective. That lack of emotion has carried into practice and his head is just not in it at all. Because of that, Jeter has benched him indefinitely until he decides he wants to care. I also heard a rumor that his scholarship could be playing for his scholarship in the final month of the season. Coaches are tired of waiting for him to want to play. Again, just a rumor I heard.

That is often attributed to lack of patience, which you can of course take from nerves. Arians may be a liability on defense at this point, but he's light years ahead of Ryan Thornton. I was quicker than Ryan Thornton.

Jeter has benched him indefinitely until he decides he wants to care. As this has now become an annual occurrence, I sure wish our coach gave some thought as to what he could do to make this a program where players care. I, for one, am sick and tired of blaming the players. This is happening far too often for it to be anything but a program failure. And program failures are the fault of the head coach. Just once, I would like to hear Jeter suggest that he is also responsible for motivating these young men. I seriously wonder if he understands this.
