as long as he runs a clean program with good people. if this is your standard, we can have this at 1/3 of Jeter's salary. One of the two highest paid coaches in the HL league should be in the upper half of the league every year, anything less is unacceptable. This was the case until this year. Yet, most people on this board wanted Jeter gone last off-season.

Problem solved. Fire jeter. Hire NDSU coach Saul Phillips and Bo Ryan's son as asst. Pay him $250k/year. Over 5 years you save a million. All he does is recruit Wisconsin anyways and you'd have a lifer.

Problem is you wouldn't actually be saving money because regardless if you fire Jeter or not you are going to have to pay him.

However I would take the set back if it means success again in the near future as we could possibly begin making money for us and the conference. How about Valpo just runs to the final 4 and nets us a boatload of cash so we can think about buying out Jeter's contract

Man... we don't need more cowbell!!! In other words no more Bo Ryan former assistants. NO Greg Gard, no Saul Phillips etc....these guys are over-rated....didn't we learn our lesson? Hire someone who is excellent because they are themselves,,,not because they knew or were like or we hope are like someone else? Bo Ryan is Bo Ryan...these guys are not...

I just hope that we look more than 85 miles to the west when the time comes to hire a new coach ... in 2017.

I know people will think its risky but I think both are good basketball minds, could recruit good local players, and most importantly win! Wardle makes $200,000 and I imagine we could hire Diener or Randall for less than that.

Talk to him as well.

Is there anyone watching the NCAA tourney going on that is demonstrating the severe lack of coaching acumen even among the sweet 16 finalists. Brad Stevens and Buzz Williams were just depending on luck, cause neither one knew how to win the game. Now let me say coaching is not recruiting. Players can win games for bad coaches. Coaches can win games for bad players. UWM needs players. Jeter and staff need to recruit and keep players for 4 years. My guess is he'll get two more years to get the job done. His incoming class looks good but he needs some inside bodies. Let's talk basketball. A coaching change at this point will not immediately improve the program. It will take it back at least two years, especially with a D2 coach. Jeter knows how to win as well as Williams and Stevens, contract or no contract. It's frickin basketball.

I disagree that neither knew how to win. Brad Stevens has proven he can win. Overall I think the coaching has been decent. During the first two days of the tourney I heard a number of analysts say that the level of play is down this year. In the games that I have watched so far, in my opinion the one thing that is down is officiating. These games just don't appear to be that well officiated this year, which makes it more difficult to coach and play.
