He's 107-117 since his first season, 98-117 against Division 1 teams ... despite being the highest-paid coach in the league. Including this year. Taking this year out, he's 99-84 in that time frame, and 77-56 from 08/09 thru 11/12. This year was a roster horror; we can make judgments about Jeter's coaching after next year. You make judgments about his coaching not by selecting specific years or periods of time, but the overall body of work. His overall body of work is average. The roster horror ultimately falls on the coaching staff who selected the kids to come here but couldn't get them to stay for whatever reason. No excuses.

Coach Jeter is a good coach and at times a very good coach. This season has been tough, but we must give him some more time to develop. Coach Jeter is a rising star.

So as long as Rob's our coach I'm going to support him. I'll try to support the next guy too, even if he's not as good a coach as Rob, which is at least as likely to be the case, as long as he runs a clean program with good people.

as long as he runs a clean program with good people. if this is your standard, we can have this at 1/3 of Jeter's salary. One of the two highest paid coaches in the HL league should be in the upper half of the league every year, anything less is unacceptable.

Ok you're new so I'll go easy on you but he's been here for how long? There's a reason why you haven't heard of a "9 year plan" in sports. With that, welcome to the board!

TO BE A GOOD COACH YOU NEED TO BE A GOOD LEADER. ROB JETER IS NOT A LEADER.

Like I said earlier have an open mind on the AD hire. One thing that concerns me though is if there is a change in head coach during her tenure (likely at some point), what are her qualifications for assessing and hiring a mens basketball coach?

What are yours? I would guess she has more qualifications than you or I.

This is a legitimate concern, and probably the best argument I've heard thus far for questioning the hire. Bud Haidet, an AD that made many quality coaching picks over the years, swung and missed on Jeter. So even the good ones can get it wrong. I'm curious to know what her experience is on something like this. Guess I should have been paying attention during the hiring process, not that it would have mattered.

Its not just that Jeter had the crappy 8 win season why he is no good for this program, its also the fact that he runs a fairly dysfunctional program. If he is our coach again next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see more people jump off the sinking ship.
We need a new coach, regardless of the costs associated with it. Unless its Greg Gard or another badger assistant, then we might as well just let Jeter fling sh*t at the wall for another 3 seasons. We wouldn't be stupid enough to go that route again...would we?
