How did the cupboard get so bare so fast? Oh that's right, we recruit kids and they leave right away... I am trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but there is none. Just a gig ole freight train fellow Panther fans.. Jeter fires Bidingmyer and players leave soon after.....And then Jeter fires another assistant....and, well, here we are! Ronnie Jones was not fired. He was only promoted into that 3rd assistant's chair when Rick Costello would not allow the program to pay another coach on top of Bid's salary. Afterward, Ronnie left when the staff was looking for a real 3rd assistant with real coaching experience, something Reef has been doing for four years now. Ronnie was only a stopgap, and he left of his own accord. |

Jimmy, do you know the exact terms of Jeter's contract? I had it at the Post office. I'll see if I can get a copy again. Last I saw it was 411k through 2015-16 season. No buyout so we'd be on the hook for the remainder. After this season...1.2 million and change? But it'd be over the three years. Sent from my SCH-I500 using proboards |

Hippy is the friend of one of our player's parents. He's an asshole who gets all of his information secondhand from someone who's probably angry that their kid doesn't get playing time. |

Name calling is a grade school tactic. The real issue here isn't whether or not someone was fired, it's Jeter's contract.

Sorry for the late response, I've been busy and off the computer for awhile.
I called him an asshole because I feel like he acts like an asshole when he comes on here. The guy has never added anything, only come on here to sh*t all over coach even when things aren't going poorly. Go look through his posts. They're a grotesque parade of droppings. He fits the name. You may prefer to call him a troll, I don't - trolls are little dolls with shiny belly buttons that my sister used to collect, I think it doesn't fit hippy.
Everyone else on here who is disgusted with the product on the floor right now - suffice it to say, all of us - has earned their stripes. In the past I may have disagreed with guys like FTA, Holic and Freak because we had different points of view, but the fact of the matter is most people I disagree with had earned the right to say what they want by being fans for years, sitting through good times and bad, bringing thoughtful ideas and support to the program. If someone who is a fan gets disgruntled or disappointed or downright angry with the program, it is their right to hop online and let off some steam.
That said, Hippy is not one of these people. He comes on here and all he does is crap all over the program and the coach. I can find three of his 44 posts that you could *somewhat* consider positive - two supporting more playing time for Evan (while undercutting Jeter) and a third predicting we'll beat Marquette in a close game. Besides that, the guy has NOTHING to bring to the table. He spent a majority of his early posts just crapping on Dejan Matic for no reason other than the fact that he was the new guy on the staff when Bid left.
He has come on here, a total outsider, and thinks he has the standing to tell us all our business because he's buddies with the parent of a player and that person feeds him a scrap of inside info from time to time, sometimes true sometimes not - my favorite was when Hippy speculated that Bid's departure had to do with his health.
The only thing that separates this guy from Maverick is that Maverick is at least somewhat polite and he makes outlandish claims - this guy is much closer to xtownfan, without the knowledge of basketball or ability to make a post longer than two sentences.
Did I resort to name-calling? Sure. But I've listened to this guy's garbage for two years now and frankly, I'm sick of it. I'm happy that Hippy finally feels like he has some camaraderie because all of us are so disappointed right now, but unfortunately that's not the case.
Hippy, the rest of these people here are fans that care about the program and will be here long after you're gone, which will probably be around the time that your friend's son graduates with a degree that he was able to obtain because Robert Jeter gave him the scholarship to go to school.
For the record, if you listen to the podcast from Wednesday night, you'll all know that I'm just as angry as you guys right now. I feel that coach has lost at least a couple of the players, or at the very least their heads are completely out of basketball right now. I will always support the coaching staff and I care about those guys, I always have the hope that they can turn things around, but my candle is flickering like most people's. My reasons now for not wanting to see Jeter fired are leaning more towards the fact that we can't afford it, although I still want to see if he can turn it around.
I want these guys to do well, I want them to play well, coach well, and win championships and go to the tournament. That's how all of us are different from Hippy. He is Heath Ledger's Joker - some men just want to watch the world burn.
