In Ric Cobb's disastrous second-to-last season (3-24, 1997-98), our average margin of defeat was 14 points (336-point deficit).
The program's Division 1 low-water mark for average margin of defeat was 15.75 points in Steve Antrim's scandal-ridden 1994-95 season (3-24).
So far this year, the Panthers are losing by average of 15.76 points per game.

Bizarro Dave Revsine says: "In seven years, UWM goes from the Dance to dead in the water!" Saddest quote I have read in a long time... From Sweet 16 to bottom 16 essentially

How did the cupboard get so bare so fast? Oh that's right, we recruit kids and they leave right away... I am trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but there is none. Just a gig ole freight train fellow Panther fans..

Funny that Dylan brings up Ric Cobb as this coach and team have a very '96-'98 feel to it before Bo Ryan came in and initiated the turnaround. Even bad teams have good individual players (Chad Angeli, Pat McCabe, Jordan Aaron), but whether it be poor coaching, poor talent, or poor execution of a game plan, the end result is terrible basketball.
At this point, I'd be willing to fire Jeter, install Boudreau to finish out the year, and go out and get a successful head coach regardless of level; a guy who is a proven winner with a plan. So we have to pay another three years or whatever it is of Jeter's contract; is a man's contract senior to running a prideful and respectable program? At least it would show this school cares about accountability and adheres to at least some type of performance standard. Let Geiger and his prolific fundrasising abilities mitigate the remaining dead years of Jeter's contract. Show me and the majority of this board, along with whatever loyal fan base is left, that you actually give a sh*t.
Who would I pursue? Easy: Steve Showalter. He incorporates Bo Ryan's Platteville-style, up-tempo and full-court pressure philosophy, runs the best HS program in the state, and has connections all over the state. Hell, if nothing else, his teams would be entertaining and play their asses off. Both of which are nowhere to be found in this year's Panthers outfit.

You lost me at hiring a high school coach. We're not D3... yet.
We have to pursue a successful current low major coach (one of our peers!) or bring in a proven winner at the D2 or maybe D3 level. Follow the model that works. No matter what the next person will need head coaching experience.

Who's the idiot that gave Jeter and extension thru 2017? What a financial mess! What is this? I thought he was done at the end of the 13-14 season?!

I believe his contract ends following the 2015-16 season. The Panthers probably could buy him out, but then your head coach would likely be promoted from within. Pretty much the only scenario for those looking for a change. Tough, tough situation for both sides...

If that's the argument, what's the point of watching this crap? We're the only school that's ever had an onerous contract?

I disagree with you on one thing, JG: not a tough situation for Jeter. He's getting paid regardless of performance. $320K/year unless he either goes someplace else (fat chance) or accepts a buyout (why would he do that from a financial standpoint)?

Financially, it's a great situation. But professionally.... Anyways, I thought he was getting more than $320K. Last I checked he pulled in $412k in salary in 2009. Yikes...

Wow. I took yuhayden's $960K remaining and divided it by three.
How much program revenue is actually produced annually to pay this type of money? What are the exact remaining terms of this guy's contract?
