I'm saying... the NIT at least has enough history behind it to justify keeping it around despite its current status as a glorified rejects tournament. The CBI is for the rejects' rejects.
Quick, name the last five CBI champions.

If my school won the CBI i wouldn't want anyone to know. And the fact that we lost in the first round of the rejects' rejects tourney is not something to be proud of.

CBI is the college hoops equivilant of a participation ribbon you get in youth sports tournaments

Wow people already complaining about Jeter and the team just started practicing. I guess if we complain about it earlier and earlier maybe they will let him go. I understand the bitterness towards Rob (no tourney appearances lately, coaching philosphies, etc.), but come on seriously? Right now?
Now, back to the thread. I would love if they had beer being sold at the K. It's not going to get me to come to games or make me stay away either way. But, being in Milwaukee I think the choice to sell beer is obvious.

Pitt won the CBI over Wash State. Many are missing the point, maybe it' your youth talking. I never said one thing about the CBI and three people jump on me. I hate to see what some say about schools who finish 12-20 on the year.

I hate to see what some say about schools who finish 12-20 on the year. Except you did when you said Milwaukee has been in the postseason for the past two years and therefore passively legitimized the CBI which made it hard to take your optimism seriously. Frankly, I wish we would have a couple 12-20 seasons. Then maybe the athletic department could stop deluding itself into thinking Jeter is "just about to turn the program around." People want to scoff at the fans for already writing Jeter off before the season even starts, but when so much of your fan base is alienated that badly by your coach, shouldn't that tell you something? I'm not the biggest fan of Flynn, but he's clearly only doing this because he needs the PR after the Urinal's 19th century-style muckracking campaign against him. The J-S continues to find ways to f**k UWM.

If they don't end up selling beer at the KC, that article pretty much paints out why they decided not to sell alcohol. It's one thing for people to enjoy drinks now and then in a casual way, I know I do, but its a totally different thing to just drink to get as obnioxiously drunk as possible. There is a big drinking culture problem in this state that condones that mentality and its a big reason why the neighborhood association hates UWM and tries to block everything the university does on the east side. Sadly, the actions of a few (or quite a few honestly) tend to ruin things for the many.
BTW I am for selling beer at the Klotsche. I don't think its that difficult to sell to underage students but the larger problem is those underage students who get drunk before games. No real way of stopping that before it becomes a problem at games without having tighter security.

Sadly, the actions of a few (or quite a few honestly) tend to ruin things for the many. This is too true. At the Bob Saget show last year, there were several drunks that should never have been ALLOWED in to the show. It was really annoying hearing people shouting senseless BS all throughout the show. I think he even ended his show early because of this. Until we can actually keep those kinds of students from making a mess of our image, or what's left of it, we might as well keep beer out of their hands until then.

Haven't posted in awhile...
Not being able to access the panther pit is really lame, especially for us recent graduates trying to network for jobs and such.
The no beer sales is easy to get around, time to pack a flask everyone!

I am not saying that a lot of these were most likely justified. But i am so tired of people who live near campus complaining about things that they should have known would be the norm around a college campus. Dont move here and then expect it to be a nice quiet neighborhood. Yes it gets out of hand but there are going to be parties and noise on weekends. If u dont like it why did u move here. I mean most of the people living in the area moved in after the school merged with the UW system.
It also bugs me that in some of te things i have read they make uwm out to be way worse than most colleges and surrounding neighborhoods. If u are at madison noise and parties are ten times worse in the surrounding neighborhoods. Same with u of I. As uwm becomes a more residential campus and students are living o or i the surrounding neiborhoods more and more this is going to continue to be the norm. People should just get used to it.

How about the fact that at least 6 of those students arrested were student athletes. fox6now.com/2012/09/09/mpd-uwm-police-operation-nets-39-arrests-saturday/I assume, they are all on the basketball team as well. I'm sick and tired of the culture of our team. They'd rather drink all the time, than win games and get us to tournament play in March. I wouldn't care if there wasn't evidence that shows otherwise. Our record has been atrocious on weekend day games.

Just because they can sell beer doesn't mean they have to sell to any/all that are 21 and over. I've been to bars where they don't allow patrons under 25 to enter. Card them and give out wristbands and if someone's busted for drinking w/out a wristband, they get kicked out regardless of their sobriety level.
