So have they practiced yet? Sure have. Better first practice than last year's first practice. Doesn't really mean anything though.

Sign of the Apocalypse? According to a source, our J-S "beat" reporter for the coming season will be none other than Michael Hunt, who will double as the Marquette beat writer. The Klotsche Center just got a whole lot more cramped. i'm guessing three seats on "press row"...one for Hunt, and two for his ego.

I discovered last night that J-S veteran Todd Rosiak will be covering the Panthers this season until he leaves for spring training in mid-February. Gary D'Amato will succeed him at that point.

The new scoreboard and videoboard will make a world of difference at the KC. I can't wait to see them!

How long should they take to install?

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, it's unlikely everything will be fully operative until the Davidson game, although I'm sure they will try hard to beat that timetable.

I am ready for basketball season to begin. One of the things I am excited about is the move back to campus. I know that a lot of people are split on this but I feel that this will help the long term potential of the program.
Home Road Neutral Overall W L W L W L W L 2011-12 13 3 7 10 0 1 20 14 2010-11 10 5 8 8 1 1 19 14 2009-10 10 4 7 8 3 2 20 14 2008-09 12 3 3 10 2 1 17 14 2007-08 9 8 5 8 0 0 14 16 Total 54 23 30 44 6 5 90 72 Home W % 70.1% Road W % 40.5% Neutral W% 54.5% Overall W% 55.6%
Just looking at the last 5 years(See table above which I can't format right for whatever reason) we have only won 70% of our home games. That is good but I would guess that stronger programs have a higher home winning percentage than that. 5 years from now (assuming we stay on campus) it would be interesting to look back and see if there is a noticeable difference or not.
I haven't seen any predictions yet but I think we will be in the mix of things ending up with 19-21 wins and 10 to 11 conference wins (remember there are only 16 conference games). I haven't seen this team in person yet so I reserve the right to change this prediction.

www.rpiratings.com/homecourtrec.phpJust to add to my point of home court advantage I found this from RPI ratings.com we rank 211 out of 345 with a winning percentage of 65.5%. So we have been better the last 5 years in comparison to the all time win percentage. I am not sure how accurate everything is but I think it gives a great estimate. Below is a listing of Horizon league teams, and I included butler. Rank Team Arena Capacity Opened Yrs W L Pct. 118 Detroit Calihan Hall 8,837 1952 60 573 225 0.7180 136 Wright St. Ervin J. The video boards and scoreboards went up this week. They're next to the other scoreboard. Should be turned on and working for Monday's exhibition game. They have a lot of work to do to finish set up around the arena before Monday though. It'll be a long weekend for them. It also looks like we have 2 new hoops this year. If that's the case, I hope we get a lot of shots up this weekend to get used to the new rims.

My hope is that they can create a decent homecourt advantage playing in this joint. I do remember back in the day it could get loud when there was alot of people in there. It is a longer drive for me to get to a game, but if it's a good product I am okay with it.
