Totally unsurprised. The beat goes on. Always seems to be something "not quite right" with this whole hodge podge of a program, "system" and regime. Rob seems very satisfied though...totally fine with 20 wins and a third place finish....ok. I am a negative troll and take your shots ....just feels like more of the same... strange mix and underwhelming results Understand your frustration Steve, and to a point I feel your pain, but hopefully we'll get some good recruiting news in the next month. If not, your pessimism may certainly be justified...

I also understand the frustration.
While I don't believe that Ja' Rob or Lonnie are make-or-break players by any means, I admit that the loss of middle-rotation guys erodes a program's continuity and makes it imperative to replace them with athletes at a similar or higher skill level.
There's still much work to be done in recruiting, meaning that no one player will fill all the voids.

Also keep in mind that the transfer rate among quality mid-major players is higher than you think. Julius Mays transferred to Purdue, after all; it's not like we're the only mid-major program that's had to deal with this problem.

Doesn't make much sense considering he already transferred once from NC State to Wright State. The problem is the rumored reason that attributed to them leaving, more so than the actual transfer itself.

A Wright State friend told me about it, that's all I know of it. Even if he didn't, there's still Brandon Wood, etc to exemplify it.
And yeah, the reasons are different, but we won without them last year and we can do it again this year.

1, Lead guard who creates his own shot
2, Wing man who can defend and score
3, Low-post, back-to-the-basket scorer

Wow!
Wright State just fell behind Cleveland State for eighth, maybe lower.

From what I've heard, he'll be much more likely to land at Purdue.

I doubt he'd be allowed to land at Butler. The likelihood of a ban on in-conference transferring is high.
I can't feel bad about our team this year, even if we've been bombarded with bad news. We've still got 4 or 5 players who can average double digits -- Aaron, Gulley, Kelm, Haarsma, etc. Our team may be young and our depth may be an issue, but we've got a ton of talent and a lot of size; and I'd rather have a committed core than loose ends who aren't devoted wholesale to their teammates. Besides, Rob is a good coach, and while he hasn't been great for more than one year, he's been steadily very good.

Updated "needs" list:
1, Lead guard who can create his own shot
2, Wing man who can defend and score (check)
3, Experienced backup point guard
4, Low-post, back-to-the-basket scorer
That would make the team complete. Three scholarships remain.
