Didn’t intend to hijack the thread, wanted to get the point across. It will be continued in the Milwaukee Branding Thread. Not a big deal. We've been complaining about this for years.

Food for thought.....theoretically if Illinois hired Rob would the results be better with Rob or Weber? And vice Versa?? Maybe Weber under-achieved down there but with a level playing field not unconvinced that Weber is not a better coach and recruiter than Jeter... would be interesting...ok... others may disagree mightily but I would not be disspointed to see Rob leave if indeed Nebraska would put a Big Ten program in his hands after an underwhelming job in mid major ranks and we hired Weber... I would be glad to take that chance... just my opinion ... sure will be a lot of disagreement...bet Southern Illinois would vouch for Weber and pick him over Rob but I digress... agree with Fran....odds are Rob is here next year and that is fine although can not say I am jumping with excitement.. is what it is

I, too, think it's time for both sides to move on. I'd be fine with Jeter in over his head at Nebraska or Southern Illinois and Bruce Weber on the Milwaukee sidelines next year. Don't think we'll see it though.

How many years does Coach Jeter have in the UW System?
If completing the current contract would earn Coach a state pension its value would be significant.
Could Nebraska offer enough to make it worthwhile for him to walk away from that?

Could Nebraska offer enough to make it worthwhile for him to walk away from that? I figure 4 years as a Platteville assistant, 2 years as a UWM assistant, 4 as a UW assistant, and 7 as head coach at UWM ... 17 years. Not sure how many of those years (especially at Platteville) are applied to the pension in the UW system.

Thanks Hack.
Coach Jeter may face a tough choice if the job is offered to him.

Here’s a short snippet about the Husker’s interest in Jeter. No new information is being reported. What’s of interesting note is that Bo Ryan’s name is mentioned frequently in this article. It seems Rob Jeter’s pedigree as a protégée under Bo Ryan is paying dividends with Nebraska. www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/rapid-reports/post/17817777Also, this link has been posted on here before, but here is the quote of Bo Ryan talking about Nebraska’s interest in Rob Jeter: “He knows the Big Ten, he’s coached in our program, he’s been a head coach, he’s accomplished some things, a couple championships, been to the NCAA tournament,” Ryan said. “He’s got the pedigree. He’s got the tools. He’s good with people, a hard worker. When he played for me, he was the hardest worker on the team and got the most out of his abilities and as an assistant coach, he was the same way. And as a head coach, he’s doing the same things.” host.madison.com/sports/college/basketball/men/uw-men-s-basketball-ryan-endorses-jeter-for-vacant-nebraska/article_daa9490c-5386-11e1-b168-0019bb2963f4.html

You have to think that while they have shown interest in Jeter and are talking to him, there are a few other coaches still coaching that Nebraska must want to at least talk to, Smart and Stevens, for example. Probably some others out there.

Probably some others out there. I think their best case scenario is more along the lines of John Groce (Ohio) or Tim Miles (Colorado State)...mayyybe Greg Marshall...but i'm not sure about that one

If they choose between Jeter and Groce, Jeter will still be at Milwaukee.

Well, you're going forward under the assumption that Nebraska is the only job Jeter could be up for, I'd say go with Groce. But we don't know what other jobs will open up.

If Jeter were to leave, please do not hire another Bo Ryan assistant. I don't want another coach that gets a dumbfounded look on their face and complains every time a player commits a foul.

Groce could be up for the Illinois job as well. Nebraska won't be the only school interested in him.
