With the exception of one very noteworthy aspect, it's Christmas morning for this college basketball fan. Does anyone else here make a list of the teams that they think are in/out?

A-Sun (1) Belmont
A-10 (3 or 4) Temple, St. Louis, Xavier, St. Bonaventure
Big East (9 or 10) Louisville, Syracuse, Marquette, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Connecticut, Georgetown, West Virginia, South Florida, Seton Hall
Big 10 (6) Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue

I don't think we'll see Marshall's name pop-up on CBS. I think we might see NC State's name. I hope Drexel gets a bid.

That would be a shame, given that Marshall is 4-5 against the RPI top 50 and N.C. State is 1-8. The Thundering Herd shouldn't be punished for having to play on the home court of league heavyweight Memphis in the C-USA title game by a prearranged agreement. Believe me, Marshall has a very tournament-worthy profile, including wins over Cincinnati (on the road), Iona and No. 19 Southern Miss (twice). Drexel, meanwhile, is 1-1 against the RPI top 50, splitting with VCU in what was essentially a home-and-home. I don't think the Dragons (RPI 71) should make it at the expense of Marshall (RPI 42).

I think Drexel may make it only because they've been a media darling all week...

Ugh! I have to cheer for Xavier in the A-10 final.
Go, Gangstas! (I'm just really not feeling this.)

Marshall was 9-7 in Conference USA. End of discussion.

Ugh! I have to cheer for Xavier in the A-10 final. Go, Gangstas! (I'm just really not feeling this.) Why are people so down on Xavier. There was a bad incident, players were suspended and they moved on. Remember, we had a player drive drunk. Should we be offended if other people referred to UWM as drunks?

Will Detroit fare better against Kansas than UIC did in 2004? Doubt it. Final then was 78-44.

I have Detroit in the Sweet 16, because why not. Here's where having major-conference talent and all that length can really pay off.

Detroit's in for a rough game. They likely are in for a rough game, but so were, Bucknell in 2005, Bradley in 2006 and NIU in 2010.

robdemovsky: Hearing that Butler, Cleveland State and UWM -- in addition to Detroit (NCAA automatic) and Valpo (NIT automatic) -- all are in tournaments.
