That bumps teams down, as now Stony Brook will be the NIT auto-bid

I believe, with no indication as to whether or not I'm right or wrong, that the people around UAB clamoring for Davis' dismissal are doing so under some racial influence.

I believe, with no indication as to whether or not I'm right or wrong, that the people around UAB clamoring for Davis' dismissal are doing so under some racial influence. UAB started their entire basketball and athletics program in 1978 and have played in the NCAA tournament 14 times and the NIT 11 times. They've had only 3 losing seasons in their history and 2 black head coaches out of 4 total basketball head coaches. Maybe you should check your beliefs at the door next time. Mike Davis is on the hot seat because the team has been falling apart academically on top of losing all the momentum it had after Mike Anderson.

One more thing on the CIT:
Green Bay's out with an RPI of 146 and Toledo's in with an RPI of 246.
This tournament is sorely lacking credibility.

Haha. Wow, that’s incredible.
The CBI certainly beats the heck out of the CIT.

Haha. Wow, that’s incredible. The CBI certainly beats the heck out of the CIT. As a rule, I would steer clear of the CIT. I like it that Pittsburgh and Butler are part of this field.

Yeah, I definitely agree. The CBI invites high major schools which, in my opinion, adds legitimacy to the tournament. While on the other hand the CIT only invites mid-major to low-major teams. Also, it seems that the CBI has better quality opponents with much better RPI’s and better conference affiliations than the CIT. The CBI field this year is pretty solid. It includes teams from the Big East, Pac 12, Mountain West, Missouri Valley, WCC, Horizon League, Ivy League, and etc... Here’s a breakdown of the teams in the CBI field by conference affiliation: - Big East (Pittsburgh)
- Pac 12 (Washington State, Oregon State)
- Mountain West (Wyoming, TCU)
- Missouri Valley (Evansville)
- West Coast Conference (San Francisco)
- Horizon League (Butler, Milwaukee)
- Ivy League (Penn, Princeton)
- Colonial Athletic Association (Delaware)
- Summit League (North Dakota State, Western Illinois)
- Northeast Conference (Quinnipiac)
- Southern Conference (Wofford)

CIT only takes mid majors, it does not take schools from the BCS conferences. So the tournament is intended for a certain audience, but does it make it that less of a tournament compared to the CBI? Personally I'm not too excited about this, so it doesn't matter if it is CBI or CIT. But that is my personal feeling.
And I hope as a fan base we do not get into a line of thinking that any tournament is a good tournament. That line of thinking leads to mediocrity. Do we want to become what Green Bay did under pmck?

I completely agree that the CBI shouldn’t be the goal for the program. The goal should be winning conference and getting to the NCAA tournament every year. If we can’t get into the NCAA's then we should look towards the NIT. And if we can’t get into the NIT, then the CBI provides us a suitable option.
What would be great is to use the CBI as a springboard for next season and beyond. For example, VCU played in the CBI in 2010 and won that tournament that year. Then, the next year they make the NCAA tournament and went all the way to the final four, and they made the NCAA's again this year. I’m not saying we’re going to go to the final four next year, although I wouldn’t be complaining.
The CBI, particularly this year, gives our young guys experience and provides one last shot at glory for our seniors. This senior class has done a lot for this program and they deserve the opportunity to play and compete in a postseason tournament.
