The CBI is at least better than the CIT, although I’m not sure how much that's saying. One positive is that the CBI actually invites high-major programs to their tournament. For example, the Oregon Ducks won the CBI title last year. Also, the CBI tournament fields are usually pretty solid, or at least as solid as they can be considering the circumstances. Here’s a link to the past participants of the CBI: www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/teams_past.htmThe downside is to host a game it reportedly costs $60,000 a game. I’m not sure if Milwaukee would be hosting or not. www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_785403.html

Does anyone know if the CBI and the CIT require invitees to have a winning record? I went to the NIT last year in Cleveland where College of Charleston defeated CSU in a good College Basketball game.

I feel any basketball you can continue to play, in a tournament format helps out the team for the future, and it gives guys like Kaylon, Tony and Ryan the chance to play again.

People complain that 20-13 is a mediocre record (Which I don't agree with.) Yet, a lot of these same people want "Us" to play in a tournament that does not require a winning record. Why play against a bunch of REALLY Mediocre teams. The Season is over. Watch the NCAA or the NIT where you can see GOOD Basketball teams, like UWM or Better.

I guess if you go to see Texas Southern, Nebraska Omaha, SW MN ST etc. Teams in the CBI and CIT seem like an improvement.

I'd like the people who bash the schedule and who we play, to go ask the coaches if they can do the scheduling for them, see how easy it is to schedule quality opponents.
and FYI, without the Texas Southern game we wouldn't have had Michigan St, so I mean you take a game like that for a bigger game

Excerpted from the Logan (Utah) Herald Journal ...
“It would be great; it would be really positive,” said (Utah State head coach Stew) Morrill, when asked about the chances of still playing. “I’ve always believed if somebody asks you to play, you play. ... We’re hopeful and will see what happens.”
This is from a coach whose mid-major program has been a fixture in the NCAA Tournament the last several seasons. Our program has averaged 14.6 victories and 14.2 losses in its 29 years at the D-1 level. Let's stop looking down through our noses at anything that's not the NCAA/NIT.
While not a smashing success and certainly an ultimate disappointment, this season has hardly been a failure.

I'm so happy to have the Panthers play in another game. I would be on top of the world, if it's another home game. Plus, it would be icing on the cake if the rumor is true to be Minnesota!
With the ncaa, nit, cit, cbi, it's still 40% of D-1 schools that go to post-season play.

Do you think teams that make a bowl game like the Papa Johns Subways Flint Mega Bowl care that its not the BCS, NO they just are happy to play another game and a bowl game at that.
Lets be happy we actually can be upset not making the tournament, we could always be the YSU, Loyola, UIC's of the world who just hope to host a 1st round game in the HL Tournament.

At the end of the day, despite being disappointed totally true. Still an honor and we should go but gosh darn......... Don't think of it as an honor, but as an oppurtunity. 205 teams can't tell their recruiting targets to track their team in the postseason. 30 teams in the big dance are recruiting players completely out of reach for our programs, so what those teams are doing is immaterial.

If you play in a Bowl Game you are playing a team with at least a .500 record. I watched the Compass Bowl the last 2 years. Loved Pitt defeating KY in '11, didn't enjoy it that much this year, BUT these were teams with at least .500 records. Won't be going to Cleveland this year since the NCAAs are in Pittsburgh. BUT if Pitt, Robert Morris or Duquesne has a Sunday NIT Game I will stay over and go. And how many of you moan about the Bracket Buster, which USUALLY features a winning team, and yet want Milwaukee to play in the CBI/CIT. The Bracket Buster this year featured a good team, Fairfield and was a good game. A few years ago we played N Dakota St (Think that was in the Bracket Busters). ND St ended up giving KU a heck of a game in the NCAA first round (If I have my years right). BUT a number of you say No to the Bracket Busters, but yes to the CBI/CIT.
