What kind of tournament is the CIT, short for the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament? Is this the tournament for schmucks? www.dinnerforschmucks.com/I see the big boys are getting invites.. USC Upstate, Mercer, and Tennessee State. It looks like quite the list so far.

You know what they say about the CIT, right?
That out of the four post season tournaments in the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball, that the CIT is one of them.

USC-Upstate what is that? I know it stands for the University of South Carolina-Upstate, but how in the world is that a NCAA Division 1 institution?
This is another example of why the Panthers need to be continued marketed as Milwaukee and hopefully the university will someday be known as the University of Milwaukee, so not to be confused with these hodge-podge schools like South Carolina-Upstate.

Completely agree. Hence why I have always pushed for and corrected people to refer to our athletics teams as the Milwaukee Panthers.

This is, what, the fourth year it has been in existence? Between the NCAA's and the NIT, there are 100 spots. Who did you expect to be in this tournament?

Got a response from @collegeinsider. Milwaukee is 'being looked at'. We could have made that estimation already based on who's officially in, but just thought I'd share that here.

Sounds like Drake (17-15, RPI 132) is headed for the CIT.

I’ve heard of the CIT before but I never really considered it as a legitimate tournament. It’s literally a fourth tier postseason tournament. It’s sad that this tournament exists at all. Mediocrity should not be rewarded. Also, what kind of tournament gets turned down by programs that get invited because of financial concerns by playing in the tournament. dc.sbnation.com/george-mason-patriots/2012/3/7/2852542/cbi-tournament-2012-cit-nit-george-mason-basketball

Wright St has had a sudo-policy of NCAA/NIT or nothing, if memory serves me. I know we decided not to play in it once due to money concerns, then there was the one season that the paper was lost.

do like the Wright State approach... NCAA /NIT or bust It's an approach that has gained the Raiders all of two tournament appearances in their Division 1 history ... and neither one was pretty. Honestly, I think you guys are really going to like the CBI this season.
