Couldn't agree more. Anything less than 7,000 is an epic fail in my mind.
In terms of the game, so good to see the stout defense return. While our offense can be torturous to watch, the D is worth the price of admission alone.
I noticed that Allen seemed a bit gimpy in the second half. Hopefully he didn't re-aggravate the ankle injury. Of anyone on the team, we'll need him the most if there's any hope of making a serious run for #1. He really spurred the momentum swing late in the first half by taking his game close to the hoop.
Let's take care of Valpo tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully we see another nice crowd in the seats.

Was that a travel or a Horizon League pivot?

I was incredibly frustrated with the mental errors in the first half and some of the body language on the floor. I give Kaylon a lot of slack because he seems to be the one holding this offense together and for the most part he does a great job. That said, I wanted to leave my seat and push him through the tunnel and into the locker room after he missed the lay up as time expired in the first half. Don't sit on the floor and give us this ohh poor baby bullsh*t. We know he can make those, he knows he can make those, just get off the floor, let it go and regroup. They were down 1 point at that point when they had no business being within 10. Defense, especially Ryan Allen, was huge tonight and will continue to play a huge part down the stretch when they have those offensive droughts.
Its hard to stay upset after a win like that. Great job, excited for the afternoon meeting with Valpo.

This. Can you imagine that game -- or any game -- with that student crowd in a gym that seated between 6,500 and 7,000? we're assuming the students make noise though, right? Not to pile-on, but I was thinking the exact same thing. Outside of the usuals in the first few rows, the most excited the section got was during Jay-Z/Kanye West during a 2nd half timeout. I'm 29 and finally felt old last night when none of the student section knew the dance to "Hip Hop Hooray" by Naughty by Nature. Other than that, ugly game but great win. These next 2 games are pretty huge in terms of tie breakers and keeping momentum. I think YSU is a team to be worried about going forward this year.

We'll see how each team does with Shaq Boga running things (I assume anyway). As for Butler's shooting woes Thursday, it's not the first team to face Milwaukee this season and repeatedly miss its mark. Valpo, for one, was 1 for 17 from 3-point range against the Panthers. It would be one thing if Butler just didn't shoot the ball well against Milwaukee, who certainly has been defending the 3 well this year. But Butler's had games similar to last night (though never quite to that level) during this season against teams that are not very good defensively (Ball State, Valpo). Some credit definitely should go to the Panthers defense, but I think more needs to go to Butler's offense for last night. The reasons as to why I'm down on the dawgs for next year: 1. Because I always am. (I'm surprised that Nil is surprised at me, 90% of what I post over on our board with any opinion in it is usually negative) 2. Because Butler's best offensive player during conference (excluding last night) this year has been Ron Nored, who in his first 3 seasons was more like the 4th or 5th offensive option when he was on the court. 3. Someone besides Clarke or Dunham needs to help this team make a huge leap offensively next year. Most of what Dunham gets against really good teams is off of screen action. So Butler either needs Aldridge, Clarke, Hopkins or CHD to take this offense by the nuts next year and be an offensive threat AND a facilitator, or Andrew Smith needs to realize that he is actually bigger than 75% of the guys he's going up against and that there's no shame in playing aggressively. 4. Jones, Marshall and Woods need to be locked in a gym all summer with a shooting coach. Not one of them has a jumper you can rely on (I'm not sure that Jones even has one period). Even though Marshall has been efficient scoring the ball, he has actually been one of the biggest disappointments on the team this season coming off his U19 team USA appearance last year. They aren't as bad as I may make them sound, but even with lowered expectations for the year, this team definitely has been a disappointment.

Ryan and Kaylon have been limpy for a few weeks. They are playing through the pain.

i was glad to see a student section so large it was filling in behind the band. And the people in the section saw an exciting game that the Panthers won, so i hope many of them will be back for more games this season.
Give the section leaders some time to teach chants, etc (i loved the "Butler Flop" chant, which i heard for the first time in person last night), and you'll get more noise in time.

It was awesome to see them have to remove a tarp last night so kids could fill in. Now I dont expect that crowd Saturday but even just the lower half would be awesome.

I think you missed the pocket of 50 students or so that were waving their arms back and forth with the song...
Which brought it to mind. Could that be our Jump Around? Jump On It was too involved - Hip Hop Hooray isn't done by anybody, it's "urban," it's easy to do, and simple to teach.

It was talked about after the same between myself and other and the issue that came up was the hype druing that last time out...I mean I know we arent Sconie, but we needed something to get the crowd going at that last time out and Jump Around would have been awesome, but we need something to get the whole place going. The music selection was poor.
On a second note, we need to get the Cheerleaders to lead the paying customers. I love the Milwaukee.....Panthers chant but no one else except the regualrs knew to yell back Panthers. So i put this out to the student leaders I know are on here to get that going.

Couldn't agree more. Anything less than 7,000 is an epic fail in my mind. There is a big difference in cost $$$$ to build the arena from 5,000 to 7,000.

It definitely reflects the eastside's taste in hip hop (east coast, early 90s).

Regarding the Norad guarding Tony play...
Tony came out of the game on the very next dead ball, so, yeah, I don't think Rob was very happy with him either.
I didn't hear Rob yelling at him, but it's exactly what I was doing in the stands.

"Don't sit on the floor and give us this ohh poor baby bullsh*t."
I really don't think that's what Kaylon was doing or that he wanted your sympathy. I'm sure he was pissed at himself.
