Irish, what the hell is going on with your board? Based on the posts it looks like about 50% of Dawgs fans will try to drown themselves tonight.

Let's say the uniforms were much better looking than this game. I can't believe how terrible Andrew Smith is - maybe he had an off night, but has this guy improved much from last year? I thought I was hallucinating when I saw Jeter throw on a full-court trap for one possession (which worked as it forced Butler to take a quick shot).
Besides the win, the best thing of the night was Boudreau's interview with Bill afterwards. Regarding the embarassing free throw shooting, Boudreau suggested they start shooting with their opposite hands or start punting the ball towards the basket. After the 6-18 "performance" we saw last night, those suggestions aren't so far-fetched. At least less far-fetched than Uncle Newt's moon colonization idea.

Typical meltdown after what was the worst offensive performance in a season that has been the worst offensively that ESPN (or Butlersports.com for that matter) has stats available for.
After the last decade or so, Butler fans have been spoiled and got used to seeing the ball go through the hoop. Last night was the 11th time in 22 games that the team has shot under 40% from the field, and they've had 4-5 other games this year where they actually had pretty similar shooting numbers to last night, and one of which against Green Bay that they've actually won.
Thinking about it big picture, Butler fans should actually be pretty thankful. There aren't too many teams in the country with worse shooting percentages than us (right around 300th in Adjusted FG%, and right down there with Milwaukee FT% wise), and somehow they've actually managed to stay above .500 (for now).
Next season will truly be interesting for both teams as they lose their senior PG leaders. We'll see how each team does with Shaq Boga running things (I assume anyway) for the Panthers. I honestly have no idea who will be running the point next year for Butler, but really it won't matter if the team can't make a shot.
Unless something major changes in the offseason, I don't see Butler winning the HL next year either. Maybe in 2012-2013 when they get a solid, all around big man in Nolan Berry (assuming he stays committed).
Sorry to ramble on like that. Good luck the rest of the way to the Panthers. Hopefully whoever comes out of the HL will make some noise in the tourney and keep the streak of 1st round games won alive.

Granny Shots at the FT line. Once those start to go in and after the laughter subdues they can shoot them normally again.

Biggest HL regular season crowd, since Wright State. 1-27-06 (6,637) Its great to see a nice crowd for a weekday game. I would think those designing the arena would see that and want to make the capacity 6,500-7,000.

I am still wondering what's wrong with Tony.
I'm looking at two plays specifically last night.
1st Half. Smith is on the bench and Tony is the tallest player out there. He gets right in the center of the lane and isn't even looking to score. Didn't even look at the bucket. I get the drive and dish for a 3, but that's for guys like Paris Gully, not someone who is 6'9". When you are 5 feet from the rim, put it up there.
2nd Half. He's got Norad on the low blocks. No double team has come yet and again, not even looking at the rim. He was looking to pass and not even considering shooting the ball. You're almost a full foot taller than Norad, shoot over the top of him.

JHart, it's funny you mentioned Tony posting up Nored in the 2nd half. I was incredulous as to why Tony just didn't turn around and shoot right over him. I was yelling at him to shoot it, but like you said, he was looking to pass. Was Jeter yelling at him to shoot? I sure as hell hope so as the action was about 20 feet from the bench. A guy in attack-mode who's looking to score would have been salivating at that matchup. I have no ide if Meier is hurt or sick or whatever, but he's a shell of what he was last year. And for a team with obvious offensive limitations, that is not a good development.

We'll see how each team does with Shaq Boga running things (I assume anyway). Never assume, irish. You know that. Both of these teams are in store for many changes over the next several months. For now, let's just embrace this great rivalry and enjoy this season for what it is. As for Butler's shooting woes Thursday, it's not the first team to face Milwaukee this season and repeatedly miss its mark. Valpo, for one, was 1 for 17 from 3-point range against the Panthers.

From what I heard Rob told Tony pretty directly to take the ball to the ****ing rim, so i would doubt he really enjoyed seeing Tony not go after the lil guy.....

I think you played good defense, but our offensive struggles are epic and well documented. Your D played a role, but I put it more on our guys with an effort like that. Not sure why Irish is so down on next year... We have instant, experienced offense on the way with Roteni Clarke, and Kellen Dunham. I think the outlook is much brighter for next year, and would say we will definitely be at the top of the league, even with Ron graduating. Not saying it will be a cake walk, but definitely not the doom and gloom he's saying...
