The thing I enjoy about them is that you draw a team based on how well you've done in that season. The problem with the scheduling of the teams when they are scheduled is that a team can go into decline like CSU. So what was the top HL team when the BB pairing was announced is no longer the top team. Bingo! There's still plenty of fluidity between the pairing of opponents and BracketBuster weekend three weeks later. Detroit was dead in the water three weeks ago and now it has won, what, seven in a row? Why, Gary Waters had hardly shed a tear yet this season when it was announced that the Vikings would play Drexel. There's no magic wand to save this event in its current form.

There's a loss in there for Detroit, against Valpo. They have now won 4* in a row.

Anyone else watch VCU - UNI. Good Game. 2 Good Teams. Fairfield has a similar record to us. Should be a good game. I don't understand the anti Bracket Buster sentiment expressed on this blog. Don't you want to see a good basketball Game, MEANINGLESS or Not?

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all love a good basketball game. But when it is meaningless and could only hurt your team (injury, fatigue) thats what the complaints are about.

Drexel 69, Cleveland State 49. The HL's "top team" (at the time of scheduling) got whooped by the CAA's tied for top team.

And the minute I become convinced that the entire conference has the BracketBuster flu, we go 7-1 in Late-Season Non-Conference Games Derived From BracketBuster Pool Play.

mcdade: Thanks for the article. Princeton can't seem to keep its coaches can it? In addition to the name you mentioned The Richmond Coach was a Princeton Product, as well as Carmody at Northwestern and JT III at Georgetown.

In addition to the name you mentioned The Richmond Coach was a Princeton Product, as well as Carmody at Northwestern and JT III at Georgetown. Surprisingly it comes down to money. Princeton pays about $200,000 and relies on the prestige of the conference and banks on the privilege of working at an Ivy League school to try to keep its coach. I was surprised when Sydney Johnson left his alma mater to coach at Fairfield. It made sense when I saw that he doubled his salary.

McDade: Wonder how much Tommy Amaker Makes at Harvard. He was the coach at Michigan when we played them in Ann Arbor, in Jeter's second year. Thought that was one of UWM's best games of the season. I was not impressed with UM. I was advised to take a cab to the game. Cab Driver thought it was going to be Amaker's last year, and it was. It surprises me that he has had so much success at Harvard. Tommy Amaker was always very close to Coach K. Wonder if K was aware of the impending donor scandal, and advised Tommy to stay put.

I'm sure it's somewhere on the web. I do know his situation is unique as his wife is a faculty member for the School of Medicine at Harvard. I'm curious to see how long he stays especially after this year.
