Four things I took out of the game.
Patience. The offense showed patience. When they had trouble scoring they didn't come down and start jacking threes or taking quick, bad shots. They stayed patient and let things develop. Very nice to see.
Aggressiveness and physical play from Kelm. That was nice to see.
If Ryan Allen can consistently hit a few threes each game, he will become a major headache for opposing defenses. How can Horizon league opponents stop Ryan if he can hit from the outside and has the quickness to drive on the defender.
This is the first time I've seen Evan play with players guarding him who have some quickness. When driving right he wasn't able to get the separation he has gotten in the previous games against lesser opponents. I will leave it up to those more knowledgeable to figure out how to get him more looks.
I also liked it when Jeter had both Shaq and Kaylan on the floor, letting Shaq run the offense. No better way to get a feel of running the offense than to actually do it, and have Kaylan to help out.
This was only the first HL game in a young season. But it has me pumped for the remainder of the season. We just have depth and talent that I don't think is matched in the HL.

I could very easily foresee a scenario where Kaylon, Kyle, Tony, Ryan and James take about 150 minutes a game and the rest of the rotation -- Evan, Ja' Rob, Shaq, Hags and Big Mete -- shares the leftover 50 minutes, about 10 minutes apiece on average depending upon matchups.
This group gives us size, depth and now shooting unmatched by the rest of the league.
Lonnie redshirts, I think.

His defense has been pretty impressive, I think if we have him on the floor with any of the main guys u mentioned the other team is going have major issues getting consistent scoring, again though, not a bad issue at all to have tho for the staff, and at this point not sure there is room on the floor this year for Lonnie, a redshirt would be good get to play another year with his lil brother too. This teams defense is pretty damn impressive so far this year and is going to be hard for teams in this league to match just hope they are able to keep it up every night, and yikes once the offensive gets clicking, I think talent wise this is easily the best team we have had since Rob joined, save maybe his first year.

Paris is going to have to hit an occasional shot to warrant playing time in this rotation. Rob's first team here wasn't marked by its depth nearly as much as by its immense talent at the top of the rotation. You're talking about four of the best 15 players to ever compete for the school. In terms of functionality, this team is deeper.

Put the big lineup out there and let's push some HL teams around.

A couple quick comments.
Firts, Loyola isn't very good. Their guard play is really weak. Gibler and Ben Averkamp are serviceable HL bigs, but they have very little talent around them. For Porter Moser, it's going to be all about recruiting these next few years.
That said, we played a good game. Did what we should do to a weak opponent. The offense was choppy, as Rob put it, in the first half, but showed signs in the second. More important, the defense continues to be very good. I really like this team's prospects.
A couple individuals of note. I was worried early when Kaylon had a couple quick turnovers, but he really tightened up and played a strong game.
If Ryan Allen had shot like that in Juco, he would not be playing here. He's easily the most improved player on the team this year.
Shaq Boga is getting better rapidly by playing within the offense so much better. I was impressed by him against MSU, and more impressed last night. Still plenty of freshmen mistakes, but we're starting to see that he could be the next guy to run this team. Early in the season he was playing Shaq ball. He's starting to play Milwaukee ball. I love to see it.
Evan needs to work a little harder to get his shots, but it's coming.
Really nice to see an 18 point conference win in a game where Ja'Rob and Lonnie are out, Tony is limited and James had foul trouble.
Let's get to 2-0 on Saturday.

Yes. I still felt there were a couple of possessions where he dribbled around too much and it looked like the other four guys were just standing around watching him. And not just at the end of the game when he was out there with four PF's.
But yes, much better than those first couple of games.

I am not sure how much I can take away from this game, except to say that we are a substantially better team than Loyola. I'm pretty sure our walk-ons would have beaten them.
I don't think Loyola is going to break the 50 point barrier much this year when Joe Crisman plays 31 minutes and spends 99% of the time on offense camped out 12 feet beyond the 3-point line.
Can anyone explain that to me?

Our walk-ons would lose to Loyola by 30 points at least.
Other than that I agree with your post.
How did Loyola score 57 against Kansas State?

If I saw the graphic on Lakeshore Public TV right, Denzel Brito and Joe Crisman lead the Ramblers in minutes played. Neither appears remotely ready for a leading role. Gonna be a long, long year for the Ramblers.

The stingy defense that we have been witnessing so far this season is why I like us winning the Horizon League AND being able to stay in the games against UW and MU and possibly beat them. Even if we are not shooting well (like the first half against Loyola), our defense will definetly keep us in these games until our offense starts to go.

We now do not see Loyola until the end of Feb. in our last regular season conference game.
It will be interesting to see how much difference we both look.
