There was an awful lot of Meier/Kelm action today.

6-1 start guys! Couldn't have asked for a much better start to the year ... ... with Tony Meier effectively missing the first seven games-plus. Typical first game back from Tony. He'll only get better from here. One thing we know: defense -- size, strength, speed, tenacity -- will carry a team a long way. The lineup at night's end, which we may never see again, was 6-7, 6-8, 6-9, 6-10 and Shaq at the point. Horizon League size?

We were just passing around Loyola a lot in the second half. It was a day to try different lineups and a good day to get a lot of Shaq time.

Is Loyola really that bad?
I mean, our guys beat them by 18, but I don't think we even played that well. Just kind of average.
Kelm was a beast tonight on both ends of the floor. Kaylon filling up the stat sheet like he normally does. Ryan was steady again.
Tony is of course not fully there yet. Ja'Rob didn't play.
Probably could have beat them by 30 tonight with a roster at 100%.
Again, is Loyola really that bad or is our team that good. Maybe a little of both?
By the way, gotta love those refs tonight. I want that group every game. They let the kids play and didn't call the little ticky-tack stuff.

IMO, we struggled a little in the first half, we got it fully together after half, just in some spurts in the second. Loyola, I'm sure, was looking to get a win in the first conference game to hopefully shake off their poor non-conference start. Loyola did look really quite bad, especially in the second half where we really started to pull away. I didn't look at the box yet, but I thought Loyola had a lot of turnovers and they did get pushed around a lot on the boards, especially in the second half. It looked like we really wore them down. They certainly struggled against our D and I'd think their shooting % is pretty bad in this game.

When Tony is fully ready, I don't see how you can remove Kyle from the starting lineup in favor of another shooting guard. I think that would be a big mistake. He was huge tonight against two pretty decent HL interior players.

Loyola was out-rebounded 42-20 and only had 8 points in the paint compared to Milwaukee's 32, plus had 10 turnovers and shot only 35%.
Our offense was not the best, but our defense was really good tonight, for sure...Loyola just didn't have alot of looks to give, period.

Sure, but I don't really see that much of a dilemma. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Having NBA-type defense at the 2 with Ryan is huge. Something we haven't had since probably Boo Davis. And Kaylon is a plus defender himself. Imagine if we see more of the press. It wasn't just token pressure tonight either. This team is definitely deep enough to run it for extended periods of time. We're going to see good to great defense all year.

Best refs we have had this year so far. I've always been a Kipp Kissinger fan. The guy is fair, he calls violations well, and he lets them play without letting the game get too loose.

The thing I haven't heard mentioned yet is the great start to the second half. We didn't have that slump and slow start that we saw in a few games this year. Hopefully that is behind this team now!
