Shaq is a freshman with an awful lot to learn. He's playing too fast on offense and too loose on defense. He has tremendous potential but he's not ready yet for more than very limited minutes in decided games. If eventually he can give Kaylon and Paris 5 minutes a game of effective relief during the conference season that would be a very good contribution from him, and would set him up for a much bigger role next year.
Paris has a funky shot but we know from his Juco stats that he finds a way for it to go in. But more important he's pretty solid with the ball and in his decisions. He's a much better backup point guard to Kaylon than anyone we had in that role last year.

In short, Paris is in the regular rotation now and for the foreseeable future and Shaq is not.
Judging by the results to date, I have no problem with this at all.
Once Tony joins the party, we'll have an effective and balanced 10-man rotation. What's not to like?
