First time seeing the team live this year. Evan Richard needs to be out there 25 minutes/game. He knows what he's doing oit there and good things seem to happen when he's on the floor. Kelm had a nice, strong post move in the 1st half, which was encouraging as he was basically a perimeter player last year. Looks like Haarsma has put on about 25 pounds of muscle since his St. Cat's days. And if he's 6'7" as he's listed, then Kelm is 7'0".

The banners were comparatively outstanding. Bright, big and bold. By the way, there's plenty of room to the right of the NIT banner for retired numbers. Here's a few suggestions: No. 30, No. 44 and No. 13. I'm being picky here, but I thought the black sweet 16 banner on the far left was a bit hard to read. I still like them! Banners look sharp! Shows off well in the Cell, with the Wave banners on the other side. I love the old Mecca!!

I like that the Sweet 16 Banner is different than the rest and I agree with ghost we need a retired number banner..

He took a 3 but narrowly missed Allen's 3 was his one dumb shot of the game. He got VERY good at decision making in the off-season.

The new banners look sharp! Bigger, the gold color. I love the new floor that went in a few years ago. I wish they would put up all members of the Horizon League schools banners, as they did years ago. That stuff comes with an on-campus arena. Also, if we made the move, I'd make the Sweet 16 banner bigger and each year would get its own banner.

Lots to like about what was shown on the court last night. If they play with that kind of defensive intensity night in and out, it could a memorable season.
I was very impressed with Allen and Hag's improved play. Ryan is so much more composed than he was a year ago. And as everyone in the arena saw, Richards could be a special offensive player. Smooth, controlled, good vision, and a pure stroke. They're going to have a tough time keeping him off the court.
Kelm also impressed. He's starting to look like a post player.
I'm really excited to watch this team develop over the season. Let's get a W tomorrow!

I had even said at the end of last season that if Allen could work more on his shooting in the off-season, he was going to be huge for us and so far, he has done that. Haggerty seems to finally know what to do out there and Richard is definitely showing more and more reasons to not have him on the bench. Had to say, I was even impressed that Kaylon was finally starting to get past those full presses that were his foe last year. With that, I look forward to being 4-0 and giving Sporty some fits...

Without Ron Hunter at IUPUI it just isn't the same. He's now at Georgia State in Atlanta. He made it a show just by the way he animated his reactions during the game. He used to turn his back on every free throw and an asst coach would let him know if it was a miss or make. He was the guy that started the barefoot coaching trend. His favorite charity is Samaritan's Feet which gave shoes to poor children in other countries. I believe his charity is over 1 million pair of shoes given to needy kids so far. Ron went to the same church in Indianapolis that Tony Dungy attended and they were a real contrast in personalities. Ron was so outgoing and expressive while Tony was so laid back. Ron used to scream in players faces but you knew it was just him expressing his sincere emotions. He never let a player off the hook. IUPUI plays in the Natatorium building in downtown Indy. The swimming pool has a huge seating arena that the Olympic committee uses for Olympic qualifying events in swimming and diving. Across the hall from that pool is the 1,800 seat IUPUI gym that is called "the Jungle" that most people in the building would hardly notice next to the huge pool with the 10,000 seating capacity.

We know Ron well here in Milwaukee, bbtds. Great guy.
He served as an assistant to former coach Steve Antrim.
