BTW, no one's mentioned how the intrasquad scrimmage on Oct 27th MAY OR MAY NOT interfere with game 7 of the World Series. Even though no one knows a) if the Brewers will make it that far and b) if the series will need a game 7, I'll be sure to tell people tonight they need to reschedule it. Lack of foresight again I tell ya!

The baseball game will be on the screen at the KC tonight, according to a very reliable source.

How would you feel if it conflicted with a Badgers football game of great magnitude? Say, last week's game against Nebraska? Very simple, dvr the Badgers game and once PM is done, go home and watch it. I wonder how many students have access to DVR.

Lack of foresight again I tell ya! dylanrocks has mentioned this multiple times. This event was scheduled in the beginning of September. At that point, the Brewers had a 10-game lead in the division. You're telling me that it's a long shot that the Brewers of September 1st could be in Game 5 of the NLCS? And as it's been pointed out by many of us, we're not saying the date should be changed, we're saying the event should have been pushed back a couple hours once the NLCS was going to go to a game 5. As far as remembering our "bottom b****" status, I think you might be out of touch with the student body. The Brewers are very important to that crowd, and athletics needs to cater to them - to an extent - to make sure they are in their seats. This isn't a game, where fans already have their tickets that they paid for in hand. This is a pep rally meant to pull in the casual student fan and make them excited to come out for a men's basketball game during the season. If you're not willing to move the event back to benefit those students who wish to watch the Brewers game, then you're not accomplishing the goal of the event in the first place.

Moving the event to later in the evening had other very significant issues, not least that the team has an early practice on Saturday. It was given due consideration and it just didn't work.
It's a dead horse, folks. Stop beating it.
I will say this -- I heard from somebody close to the program that they didn't appreciate the suggestions that they should play second fiddle to a televised baseball game that can't even decide that series. The event is going on with free food and snacks, 4 iPads in a contest for the students, the new Chancellor and even, as I said, a screen showing the game for those of you who don't have a DVR.
Hope to see you there.

Well, I guess I should just keep my mouth shut and not suggest anything. There are sooooooo many things I would like to say to this, but I'm going to hold my tongue (or my fingers) because I don't want to drive us all further apart.

At the KC right now, there's easily 300+ students. Lecrone is here too. Students like free food and live entertainment? Who knew?

If we get even 1/3rd of the crowd we had tonight, I will be impressed. I wouldn't be. The early games of the season are always some of the most well-attended (as long as the opponent is D-I). This is what I'm going to say about Panther Madness. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be put on in front of 25 students checking their cell phones for the Brewers score. There were easily 700 students in the crowd, and you can tell that a lot of effort was put into the event from all phases. Perhaps the student that g.o.d. and I talked to the other day is walking around in a blindfold, because students definitely knew what was going on. The presentation was very professional and everything was well done. The dunk contest at the end seemed like the weakest part of the event and it was also fun. I wonder what attendance would have been like tonight if they weren't losing students to the Brewers game.

The women's dance routine was by far the weakest part.

The women's dance routine was by far the weakest part. Thinking it over, it might have been the Chancellor's "hot shot" competition where we watched two students make layups for a minute.

The "hot shot" competition wasn't great but at least iPads were on the line. The dance routine had nothing on the line and seemingly was just a way to fill time.
