If the Brewers go down 3-1, maybe some more people will come out to madness.

If the Brewers go down 3-1, maybe some more people will come out to madness. This was a perfectly avoidable problem.

If the Brewers do lose tonight, there is still no way I'm not watching every last out of the Brewer game on Friday night.
By the time the game is over at around 10:30pm, it's not going to make much sense for me to drive 20 minutes up to campus, park, get in there, and watch the tail end of the event.
I really wish they wouldn't have scheduled it against a Brewer playoff game, but whatever...

To be picky here, the Panthers scheduled it as it's the first day of practice by the NCAA. This date was long on the board before the Brewers even made the playoffs.

In fact, it took almost a month after the original thread for someone to even bring up the possibility of this scenario happening...so yeah looks like the team were the only ones w/out such foresight

I really wish they wouldn't have scheduled it against a Brewer playoff game, but whatever... again, no one on here picked up on this possibility until almost a month AFTER the original thread was created so its not like Panthers fans didn't know this could be a possibility. Besides they shouldn't have to make their schedule around other teams. Do you think they asked the HL to schedule our home game against UIC in the afternoon so it wouldn't conflict w/ the B1G championship game that the Badgers may or may not play in? Should they ask the HL to reschedule their home game against Detroit b/c it MAY conflict with a POSSIBLE Packers playoff game? Considering the Brewers barely got into this round to begin with, its not like this was some foregone conclusion that playoff game would even matter to Brewers fans so to think UWM should schedule their events around the sheer possibility of other sporting events is absurd.

I don't think they should change the date of Madness, but they do look at what the other sports teams are playing at and should. They need every paying customer they can get.
Nov. 20, Texas So. @4pm (Pack game noon)
Dec. 3, UIC 1pm (MU-UW 3:30pm, B10 title game)
Jan. 7 GB tbd (Pack playoff game)

Obviously we're not paid to follow the program and come up with these things. They are. At some point, don't you think the athletic department should mandate all scheduling be done in conjunction with a Master Calendar that carries these schedules and potential playoff games? Even if they didn't move the date, moving the event back two hours and putting the game on for students would both create a real "Midnight Madness" atmosphere and ensure students would be in their seats when the Madness begins. Instead, by failing to move the event back event two hours, they're all but ensuring the event takes place in front of 50 students who are checking their smart phones for the Brewers score.

This event, not designed for the alumni and at-large community but for the students, is far too important in terms of seeding the campus fan base to not have a contigency plan in place in the event of a conflict. Instead of making this a great event, it's already tamped down enthusiasm before it had a chance to grow. Alone, this isn't an earth-shaking issue. But it is symptomatic of a much larger problem that's faced this athletics department for some time -- a lack of foresight and flexibility.

I'm friends with everyone in this thread but Holic has it exactly right. Some of you guys are just being unreasonably critical. It's an unfortunate, late developing conflict that was a complete long shot when the event was first scheduled. It isn't remotely as easy to change the schedule for something like this as you guys pretend it is, considering the availability of facilities and personnel, and once the conflict actually ripened no one in this thread suggested a reasonable, feasible alternate date that would have been guaranteed to work any better.
Enjoy whatever sport you intend to watch tonight. I'll see some of you at the KC.

Yes nothing says "kickoff to College Basketball" than Major League Baseball. I'd like to give kudos to all of you who talk about elevating the level of the program yet the ONE TIME it conflicts with a Brewers game you argue how the program needs to remember its "bottom b****" status and whine they don't make accomodations to other teams in the state. Raise your sights!

It's not just a Brewers game, 'Holic. It's Game 5 of the National League Championship Series.
How would you feel if it conflicted with a Badgers football game of great magnitude? Say, last week's game against Nebraska?
In that case, I'd be at Panther Madness. Where would you be?
All anyone on here is saying is that consideration should have been given to moving the event up or back by a few hours or staged in conjunction with a showing of the Brewers game. That's all.

I don't think I was ever whining. Just said I wouldn't be showing up because I'm watching the Crew.
If it was a regular season Brewer game or even a regular season Packer game or any Badger football game, for sure I'd be at Panther Madness. But this isn't just any regular ol' Brewer game we're talking about here. And as we all know, these types of games don't come 'round these parts very often. I'm soaking up every inning while I still can.
