If you have to babysit certain players, then YES, its part of the job.

This has nothing to do with Rob not watching Kaylon. This is from Kaylon making several terrible decisions in this situation on his own.

Seriously, what the hell are you talking about? There is absolutely no connection whatsoever between Jeter talking with other colleges months ago (something probably 1/3 of all college coaches do every year) and Kaylon getting blitzed and fleeing the cops. That is nuts.

This happened in Cedar Rapids, IA, his hometown and not in the Milwaukee area. These are the consequences of Kaylon's decisions last night/this morning. Not Rob's.

One thing I like about our coaches is that when they recruit a kid they are recruiting the person, they're not just trying to fill a stat sheet. Kaylon has a lot to address after this, and it's mostly going to be up to him, but I know (for a fact) that our coaches intend to help him if he's willing to let them, and that's the way it ought to be with coaches and kids. Again, whether that means he'll ever play again isn't the important point.

This was 100% Kaylon. So...was Jeter supposed to go to Iowa and follow Kaylon around? Even if you forced players to stay on campus for the summer (mind-numbingly ridiculous) Was Jeter supposed to follow Kaylon to the party/bar? Then make sure all the other players came along too, so he could keep an eye on them?

I totally agree with you Fran on this one. But as for Hippy you have show yet again why boards like this are bad because any stoner with a keyboard gets to toss stones and talk about people when they are down. You sir are a troll and people such as yourself don't care about the players. So why don't you go and find another program to call your own because fans like you are not wanted here.

I don't think Jeter has any other recourse other than to dismiss him from the team.
Kaylon made a really bad decision, and now he will have to live with the consequences. As it was stated earlier, hopefully this is just an isolated incident--although .228 BAC leads me to believe it isn't--and he can move on with his life from here.

Running from the cops will result in K.Williams never playing a game for the Panthers again.

This sucks for you guys and the Horizon.
I know we all made stupid mistakes. His 1st one was (allegedly) drunk driving- the 2nd was choosing to flee from a police officer. I am normally a 2nd chance kind of guy, but both combine seem a a little too serious.
My understanding is that even if Jeter were to sit him for this year- he could come back next year, but it would be his final year (i.e. 5 to play 4 rule).
Of course, if he is released now- that frees up another scholarship on a longer term player.

If King and titan are right and he would have another year of eligibility, than I wouldn't be opposed to "redshirting" him this season and giving him an opportunity at playing next year. This assumes:
-that this was his first offense -that he doesn't have any incidents between now and and the start of the 2012-13 season -that he keeps up his student athlete duties this year -- keeping his grades up, is active in practices, comes to Goolsby's postgame, etc. -that he works with Jeter and the coaching staff to make sure this was, and will continue to be, an isolated incident.
