That's why the push would come from us, a la the Panther Pit backdrop and seat covers.

Excerpt from Andy Katz' latest column: "Penn State will have a hard time securing a big-name coach to replace Ed DeChellis. But that shouldn't come as a surprise. DeChellis came from East Tennessee State after all.The timing of the departure will make it even harder for Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and Eddie Fogler, who was hired to help with the search. Not to mention that Penn State will likely be picked to finish last in the new 12-team Big Ten.
Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter, who is from Pittsburgh and is a former Big Ten assistant at Wisconsin, would definitely listen, according to sources. He could be a good fit. So, too, would Boston University coach Pat Chambers, who was a former Villanova assistant. Drexel's Bruiser Flint would listen but he has one of his better teams returning and the Dragons have a real shot to win the Colonial Athletic Association."
Katz goes on to name a few other potential candidates. Whether Rob would take this job or not, I simply don't know. I just can't imagine him leaving to take THIS job. Big Ten or not, this is a BAD job, with little room to progress...

Excuse me if I missed something, where was is published that Jeter turned down Miami? I haven't heard why Jeter did not get the job. He was a strong candidate, but did not get it. That may be because they turned him down, it may be because Larranaga was higher on their list, it may be because he didn't want the job. If it was the latter (I've heard rumors it may have been) then I don't see why he would take PSU but not U of M. I guess it depends on the whole offer they propose to him. As far as PSU itself goes, it's a ways away from a national power, but it does have potential. Philly is a big recruiting haven, and Rob would have it in-state. The Big Ten-lve is a great basketball conference, and getting better. It would take some serious work, but the potential at University Park is high. It will depend upon the whole offer - salary, incentives, other perks - to whether or not it would be in Rob's best interest. I'll echo what I said during the scare over the U; make Milwaukee the best program possible, give Rob the best offer you're comfortable with, and if he goes, he goes.

"Penn State will likely be picked to finish last in the new 12-team Big Ten."
Milwaukee, meanwhile, will likely be picked in the top three in the Horizon.
With the money roughly the same, I would turn the job down based on this alone.
Remember, Rob has four or five years remaining on his deal here .. and for pretty good money.

I am sure this has been mentioned numerous times on this board, what is Jeter's salary? $411k or so. It may be more this season.

In order to paint the most accurate portrait of the situation, I think it's essential to note that Rob's listed $411,537 salary is his base.
He also draws income from his camps, car and shoe sponsorships and performance bonuses, two of which he met this last season.
The term "total compensation package" covers Rob's salary, his country club and athletic-club memberships and all of the above.
