"the last two games of this season really leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
Because we lost to a sweet 16 team and a Northwestern team who went on to crush a #1 Seed Boston College team in Boston?

If he does leave, I think we should go the Bruce Pearl route, if at all possible -- find a winning lower division coach who has enough history in D-1 to know how the system works, especially when it comes to recruiting.
As for players leaving, Rob Jeter isn't Lane Kiffin, and I don't see (many) great recruits leaving a solid program to go to a multi-year rebuilding project. As I recall, the primary reason Shaquille Boga was interested in UWM in the first place was because he wanted to play with his brother. Kelm didn't have a good enough Freshman year to warrant looks from other teams. And if we're really concerned about keeping our cogs, then promote Duff or Bid from inside the program to keep an extra level of stability.
Remember that all of our important pieces stayed with us when Pearl left.

Wow, I'm really surprised at this latest news, but just becase Bo talked to Rob about "something else" and his name is listed as a leading candidate only means that Rob is thinking about it. I still consider this a primarily lateral move for Rob, albeit slightly better. However, Rob has to start from scratch in re-building. Plus, Rob could have gone to Iowa State back in the day, but stuck it out...for what six years...only to leave at the opportunity to coach another mid-major?
Having said that, I can only hope Rob and his staff stay on board as I think many are being overly negative. (or perhaps I'm being overly positive) I know some of you guys have a better feel for the true situation.
For those wanting Pearl back...you're crazy! First, Rob hasn't left yet. Second, the NCAA hasn't ruled on the TN stuff. Since his situation is very similar to Sampson's, there's a good chance he's banned from coaching the NCAA for a couple years. Finally, why would anyone want to touch him right now? He's already been blacklisted in the NCAA due to recruiting morals or lack thereof and now fired due to recruiting infractions and lying about them. I have no desire seeing him on our bench, no matter how good he could make us. It's like marking the self-employed box and saying you work from home on your tax return. You're an instant mark to be audited by the IRS. Not to mention, even if he were to come back, be successful and get us back to the dance and winning games...you think he wouldn't leave at the first opportunity with a bigger school in a bigger conference? Remember how his roots were planted in Milwaukee and two days later he was at a press conference in Knoxville?
Let's wait and see what plays out. The truth of the matter is, there's likely very little that can be done at this point to change Rob's line of thinking.

Any one have a paper copy of today's Journal Sentinel? Any mention of the Tribune report (since I know at least some at the JS knows about it since Dave Heller tweeted that last night)?
I don't see anything in the Peoria Journal-Star online edition.

He's already been blacklisted in the NCAA due to recruiting morals or lack thereof and now fired due to recruiting infractions and lying about them. Lets see...a 231-99 record overall (145–61 at Tennessee), making the NCAA tournament every season he's been there including an elite 8 and 2 sweet 16 appearances. If BP wants to coach next season and the NCAA lets him, he'll have a job within the next couple weeks. Haaa...I meant overall. Sorry

Was Bruce playing 55 games a year at Tennessee? No wonder he needed to cheat.
People, if other schools are coming after your coach it means he's doing well by your program. So if you don't like this brief post-season uncertainty you should hope for .500 seasons or worse.
Let's just see what happens.

Great point. A friend of mine said something similar to me during the HL Tourney, and I never thought of it this way. We WANT our coach to leave every 4-6 years. That means he's been very successful, and ready to move up. We aren't a BCS conference, or upper mid-major program, regardless of how badly we may want to think we are. Until that day comes, we need to hire quality coaches who will succeed here, then move to a bigger, "better" job.

Hope Rob stays... have to chuckle a bit at your earlier post... if Bradley is looking for a tireless promoter who will energize the fan base and win instantly... well... this is not exactly a description of Rob... his talents are more in area of ethics, integrity, sincerety, methodical progress....emphasis on methodical

If he goes, he goes. I've never quite understood the need to have Jeter as our coach and I probably never will. Bash me if you want...

Remember that all of our important pieces stayed with us when Pearl left. All of our seniors stayed. All of our recruits disappeared. If Jeter leaves, you can pretty much guarantee that the following players will go with him: JaRob Lonnie Shaq JJ Panoske Kyle Kelm I would expect that these players would stay: Haarsma Evan Richard Kaylon Ryan Allen Tony Meier That would leave us very short handed, but not dead.
